AFAIK, there are no cartridge bearing NJS hubs, probably because you couldn't individually polish your balls at Keirin school

It is rarely going to be the best. But it shouldn't fail as there is too much money involved in each race to allow failure of compenents. So as I see it there are two criteria for NJS

1. To give a level playing field
   
2. To avoid catastrophic failure
