  • I'm giving up being single. Ladies, watch the fuck out. If I'm super horny, then fellas had better watch out too.

  • You should start the medication again though.

  • Lent
    Lentils

Is there a connection? I've been wondering about this for a long time.

I like your appropriation idea, Emilia. It has to be said, though, that not eating animals at this time has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with farming (upsets lambing/calving if daddy's bleating on on the other side of the barn about 'No not the knife please not the knife!!!'). So it's pretty much pagan, since its about having at least *some *respect for the animals we exploit. Most of these 'religious' rules like kosher and fasts and halal are really all about farming and hygene and stuff. Did you know in Halal rules an animal has to be given water at the moment it's throat is cut? How refreshing.

    It would appear not...

But 'lens' is from lentil. Legumes meet optics.

    ha!

  • I am giving up living my life by the calendar. These 40 days will fly by
Oh and roll ups – no more between now and end of track season!

  • I will try to live on an vegan diet for 40 days.
I'm sure Ill be fine without meat but giving up dairy products is gonna be tough!

    Fantastic!

Don't think of it as 'giving things up', though. You'll discover plenty of new things. Vegans generally tend to eat a greater variety of things than meat-eaters, who tend to be stuck with the same old five or six kinds of meat they eat all the time.

Take your time--don't get too frustrated if you feel you're not going fast enough. It has to work for you, not for the universe (although it's nice if it does that, too ;) ).

What I found when I turned vegan was that I had to learn to cook--which is now one of my favourite hobbies. Perhaps you can already cook, in which case it'll be easier for you. Cooking vegan is an absolute delight.

Good luck with it--ask me for advice if you need any!

  • no meat for me for a while.
i need milk though. I couldn't live without milk.

and i don't get on with the soya alternative. in a purely digestive way, it tastes lovely.

  • I'm going to resurrect this thread, just like Jesus.

I think I'm giving up beer for lent, and also buying lunch (which is basically a resolution to make lunch at home). I've decided to do this after careful thought 30 seconds ago.

    Anyone else giving stuff up?

Chives. And various posters on here...

  • Stick me on ignore then. I can talk freely about chives then.

  • CIgarettes and alcohol :(

Not really because of lent, but because my body is falling apart

  • Stick me on ignore then. I can talk freely about chives then.

I won't be doing that. Tempt me so my resolve proves strong.
Then I can join the ranks of the smug god-botherers...

Buying lunch is big waste of money, good call. I never buy lunch out of lack of options so I guess I'll need to give something else up.........hmmmm........

Aha! Rent! That's a huge waste of money.
