  • The guys at Armourtex told me to leave a message on the forum for a guy named Ted who can remove the braze-ons from the frame before I get it resprayed. Anyone have any idea how I contact this guy?! Thanks very much.

  • Whoops, was I supposed to do some sort of self-introduction?

I'm an American interloper here to enjoy your bike porn: more, more, I want more!!!

Anyway I live in Boston (Mass)... I usually ride my old workbike, an early 90s Team Miyata Pista (STB). Sometimes I ride a ridiculous rainbow colored Rossin SLX roadbike.

If anyone's ever coming to Boston I'm sure I could be a font of useful information (or will die trying). I also know New Orleans fairly well.

  • Always wanted to visit New Orleans ... was told you have great cemeteries and other oddities.

  • New Orleans is fairly unique... sadly not as unique as it once was, but unique all the same.

The cemeteries are pretty crazy. Unfortunately some are safer to visit than others, but such is life in the Big Easy.

  • Thanks Balki

  • Hi, I've been lurking for a while but joined up yesterday for some drama in the stolen bikes thread. It was a shit way to 'introduce myself' so I thought I'd do the proper thing here.
Been riding fixed for about a year, got a 60's red & white Monark road frame, it's got wheels on it (2), clipped/flipped bars with black tape. Say hi if you see me. The vintage chainset is beautiful but the cottered cranks are endless problems. Need to address this soon. Tips/recommendations welcome!
My most frequented route is Stamford Hill to Shoreditch. It's really boring, short, straight and riddled with potholes. A few days a week I might be seen anywhere between Stamford Hill and Russell Square.
Not sure what else to say really... I don't spend that much time online so I can't promise any substantial input to the forums, but they have been infinitely helpful/distracting so thought I'd say hi/thanks.

  • hello!

Do any cycle courier fancy helping a student with her Anthropology degree module on the Anthropology of London at all?

I need to have a chat with any of you about the nature of your work...

If anyone is interested it will be much appreciated :)

  • Hi folks,

where to start really? been reading the forum a while as i've been playing with the idea of doing the LTB on a SS (and its my first time doing it) well i decided yes, 1 - for the pain, and 2 - erm, there must be a 2, the beer :) .

anyhoo, i opted for an OTP Iron Horse Transit 0. Not a bad bike although not nealy as nice as the bike porn page.
I was a BMX rider (is that a dirty word here?) and moved to geared, but i've not found the joy (not to mention responsiveness) you get on a BMX on a grown up (geared) bike, and the last straw was a catastrophic gear change that resulted in blood and bent deraileur.

anyhoo, viva la Iron Horse, well looking forward to some nice long rides

  • 'Iron Horse Transit'
Sounds like a special edition military ve-hicle.
    heeeelllloo!

  • it does a bit, and the green colour doesn't help either

no couriers on here - mostly art students and out of work creatives / web designers. try moving target.

    oh, and welcome!

  • Hello.
I'm Eoin - from Ireland but I moved to London about a year ago. Spent my first few months here couriering. Now I'm meant to be doing a PhD but seem to spend the majority of my time trawling this site!
I've got a Charge Plug with a upgraded wheels, saddle and a few bits other bits and pieces. Slowly but surely learning more about bikes and constantly planning my next upgrade. Really appreciate the amount of info this site provides, look forward to maybe talking more and finding out more about bikes face to face in the near future.
    Cheers...

  • hey there, just checking in... I’m just a girl on a single speed bike in London. been grateful for the advice, laughed at the caustic humour and admired the spirit of this site for a while. hope I can add to it in my own way.

Spent july ‘06 accompanying the tour in a mazda bongo with bike on the back – one of the happiest months of my life.

Based in the west and hoping to get out of work in time for the ride tomorrow

  • no couriers on here -

    not true, there are loads.

they just don't have time to flood the board, except will

  • sorry everybody

  • Will this be some kind of 419?

  • Welcome usedcarssales. I am indebted to your use of language English. Please keep updating me in this regard.

Don't quote spam you numpty. When I nuke spam your quote keeps it alive.

  • I have a small penis, but big brain

  • I have a small penis

    .

  • Sorry VB, just quoted some spam. Oh well, can't be helped now, I guess. ;)

  • That's OK, I corrected the spelling for him.

  • So why can't you nuke the spam in the quote?

  • Because nuking spam is something that can be automated using a spam blacklist like Akismet and submitting the spam to that.

But when you quote it, there is either a risk that you get dumped as a spammer too, or that the spam gets skipped which then defeats the point of attempting to nuke it.

Spammers seldom post just once, and if they're posted in 2 threads I'm pinning my hopes on the automated cleanup nuking other things they've posted. Which is useless if you've quoted it.

  • nice one smithchild. you've fucked it for everyone.
