I'd say some half decent lights are needed, 50 quid should do it. You'll struggle with lights from a city style light unless there is a really full moon and a clear night and smooth tarmac. Plus get a decent rear light if you don't have one already, none of these shitty useless kogs. You can not see Kog lights in anything but ideal conditions.
I bought them a few years ago though and got them for alot less than listed here (£45). I think they must have been miss listed as they were alot more expensive everywhere else I looked.
They are great with both lights on but the run time is shit so I tend to keep only the low light on except for down hills.
There are loads of options out there. I'd buy two of these if I needed some lights for cheap. Put a section of road inner tube over the shaft and do a dinotte style mount system with some large O rings or large inner tubes cut up.
