I hope you didnt take that the wrong way, I wasn't having a pop at you for not coming out riding or anything, I just couldn't see anything missing from the bike except for the rider!
It's hard to believe that there's still plenty of snow in lots of places, but then I look in my back garden and I believe...
I'm glad you mentioned grit, it's reminded me I should clean my bike before more damage is caused.

oh no, I didn't. It just reminded me of the fact that I haven't been riding much and, with that, my fucked up down tube.
Although, the one positive thing the snow has brought is that I've finally been able to appreciate the mountain bike which, up until now, has been something I just can't enjoy. Sun all weekend though and nuff bike riding is going to be happening. -

New bars, stem and saddle.

Just finished yet another rebuild after a crank snapped before Christmas and smegged my arm.
Based on a Fred Williams LWS 653.
You might spy it in the mornings around north Brum. -

I'm sick of you fakenscooters appropriating our sub-culture and turning into some hipster fad.
Scooters are a practical low maintenance method for couriers to get round the city.
Your ride looks like you just bought it pre-fab from toys'r'us, (your deep t bars are lame btw) I spent months sourcing my parts.
Why don't you just go back to Shoreditch?! -

Why don't you just go back to Shoreditch?!Bah, you sound like a certain ex-fakenger who has the "only I'm allowed to ride fixed because I used to be a messenger for a couple of summer months, and all the other non-messengers are just posers" attitude. You should lighten up and stop getting angry at other people who choose this beautiful scooter-based lifestyle.

yeah man it can only be a good thing right? more scooters on the street, less cars, better for the environment, etc so chill your beans my t bars are dope.

ooh it did work!
thats an LX hub with a singulator dontcha know... -

Some progress on the drivetrain... still single speed. Should get new pedals on it tomorrow (White flats if I can) and maybe a single chainring at the front, although that'd be bye bye to the nice cranks :(
Serviced the rear hub today, the axle was seriously bent, but the wear lines on the cones says it'd only just happened... gonna have to stop using this bike for work if I want it to last as I shift some weight up to the schools I visit. That's two rear axles across two bikes I've killed due to weight this year...
Anyway, much nicer than the 5spd block that was on before...

I was tempted to set up a really weird photo of my bike in a tree in the street - I won't go into details, but people walking past would have thought 'wtf...'
They already think I'm a sad bastard just for riding a bike...

A massive thanks to danwentskiing - cheers for all your help. And to Big Daddy Wayne for the finishing touches.

It's been fucking shitty not riding recently. Living in the countryside has meant that I still have slushy snowy ice everywhere and the grit that has been laid seems to do nothing but cut up my down tube. Bring on summer and these summer epics.
