Also we should be being proactive. Would it be so bad to designate say 5 or six people at an event that would alternate checking the bikes..? It really would not be too demanding and I think we all like our bikes enough to put some effort in.
as Skully said, there were a few of us outside through the evening, my lungs will attest to this, but it does back on to that estate and a pile of shiny bikes does attract attention. Strangely there were more valuable* things left behind or not securely locked, so they seemed to know specifically what they wanted.
Its only just occured to me that I had to stop and redo the bolts on my saddle on the way home.
