  • The Flickers' Arms?

  • make jay-walking illegal, then come talk to me about RLJ-ing!!!

    that'll make it worse.

all the little gangsta wannabee kids will be sauntering around in the middle of the road cos it'll give them cred to be blatantly breaking the law.

and anyway, it doesn't matter what laws are brought in (look at mobile phones whilst driving)

nobody bothers to obey them, and that's ok because the police don't bother to enforce them.

    It's a very free country

  • My comment:
"The question above is flawed from the outset. The question is "What would they [cyclists] do if cars began the same practice?"
Cars do!!! All the time! They also drive and park in cycle lanes, invade the cycle space at red lights, don't check their blind spots for cyclists when changing lanes or turning, speed, drive drunk, and kill pedestrians and cyclists! What do cyclists do about it you ask??!?! They avoid cars the best they can, one of the best ways is to jump a red light and get into the traffic space where there are no cars."

    +1

Leave my Jay alone! who is talking to you anyway little dog? ;)

and by saying that (in bold) he's admitted there is a distinction regarding the safety between the two types of vehicle.

reasoning with people like that is impossible

  • I still think that whole forum is fake.

  • I like the way the inter-transport-medium bickering hides the fact that London's transport needs a complete overhaul and system of investment that is out of reach for the foreseeable future.

I'm done with the tube, driving, trains and biking... teleportation please.

  • Ok, I got caught running a red on the Mile End Rd this morning, dumb move as a police car was right behind me, I was at fault no question.

So I get a 'Fixed Penalty Notice (non-endorsable) of £30', I gave my details up correctly, I thought I might have been let off but politeness got me nowhere and got a load of stick from the police man about ''how you lot complain about the roads so much...then you go doing that... blah blah blah''

In retrospect I could have given a false first name and a false address, so I'm thinking shall I bother paying and risk the chance of a court summons in the hope the police have more pressing things to be doing than chasing this up for a mere £45?

(NB: I don't want a debate about whether what I did was right or wrong)

  • You broke the law and got caught, just pay the fine and make sure you don't get caught again.

  • They will follow it up, and the fine will be bigger.

I'd just pay it- probably works out to about £0.00078 per red light you've gone through in the past after all?

  • Gripping stuff!

    (see avatar)

  • Pay it. Thats what the laws for.

  • if you contest it, it'll be your word against 2 coppers... what exactly do you hope to achieve other than making the fine bigger

take it on the chin and get on with it

  • CCJs are the new ASBOs.

  • £30 is a small price to pay for being one of the fastest vehicles in Nodnol.

  • rolls eyes

Pay it, sacrifice a night out on the lash.

  • A night out? £30 wouldn't even put a midget in high heels!

  • Pay up. Even if they don't chase you next time you get stopped they will check for unpaid fines; a friend of mine had to pay £300 recently for that reason. And I mean* had to*; they kept in the cells until the money turned up. Unless you want to ride around knowing that if you ever get pulled over you're in for a large fine then pay it.

  • Or move to Brazil. They don't have an extradition treaty with the UK.

  • i made a complaint and got an apologie letter but payed the fine.

  • if you gave your real details, just pay it, small price to pay for getting caught once in a million.
much less to what you will be charged if you leave it unpaid, because believe it or not they do follow this shit up and increase your fine.

  • A night out? £30 wouldn't even put a midget in high heels!

It might buy you a ticket to see these guys or this little lot.

  • He's the one they call Dr Feelgood, he's gonna make ya feel alright..

  • my friends got tickets in chicago and the friend that lived there contrsted the ticket an the pig didn't show up for the hearing so he got away with it. the friend that lived in philadelphia just didn't pay.
