Don't underestimate the rotational weight that a valve cap adds at 3 grams!
No, not to save weight, I just don't see the point of them.
keeps vavle ends clean, away from dirt and crap seizing up.
or from accidently snapping or unscrewing (which will have your wheel flat in seconds)and dude, your average valve cap is under 0.5 of a gram

• #5578
What valve caps are you using that weigh 3 grams?
3 grams was just a wild guess, I haven't got a clue what a valve cap weighs...

Valve caps are another one of my issues I'm working through with my therapist.
They are not necessary and serve one purpose - slowing down your tube changes should you p_nct_re. I've NEVER had a presta valve fail. Schraeder, since the valve bit is recessed and they sometimes collect little stones might warrant a valve cap but even then I've had a stuck valve maybe twice in 10+ years riding schraeders.
Say no to valve caps!
Say no to those little thread valve thingies!
Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos! -

Been looking though these pages for ages. Thought i would finally post a couple of pics to see what everyone reckons. It is very much a work in progress.

Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos!I managed to destroy a presta valve with my mini handpump, was trying to squeeze that last bit of air in, hand slipped and ripped the valve end off. Never done that with the old style pumps, with screw on adaptor (due to it being impossible).

Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos! Those little thread valve things are useful as if you get a slow puncture, or your tyre just has low pressure, then without them you can't press the adapter onto the valve because it just pushes back past the rim.

(Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos!)Sorry, nope. Another Valve Fail.
You simply push from the tyre behind the valve. I do this anyway, wrapping my hand over the tyre and valve to make sure i never bust off a valve.. like numpties on here seem to do every other week.
Again, I've run almost all my bikes for years without caps or threaded dooviewackies and never had an issue.
I did leave the yellow caps on the Raleigh for a while since they matched the TI Raleigh colours :) -

Someone stole my valve caps once. Vandals.
Valvedals.
-
• #5597
I wouldn't call it stealing. Hopefully they disposed of the caps before they found their way onto someone else's bike. Evil bastard little valve caps.
