OK, So I've just tried to have a normal lunch but couldn't. I can't shake this thread, it's extremely upsetting. Things have been so much easier when it wasn't in our neighbourhood so to speak. All road accidents shake us, all deaths leave us a little affected, but when it happens to friends, friends of friends and those within a few degrees of separation then it hits, it's real, it's human, and it brings home the mortality, the tragedy.
Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that it was lucky that given the size of the forum it's taken this long. I'm not in agreement that it has to be so inevitable.
I've been thinking of velcro since he posted, and I remember that empty numb feeling when people I know have passed on. It's harrowing.
I feel a strong need to do something. That's just a human reaction, but coupled with running the forum I think perhaps we could do something.
I don't know where to start though.
A memorial ride, a ghost bike, some action, a large bouquet from the forum to the family.
I think we should do something to help the family, to help velcro... even if it's a small something.
Ideas appreciated, though if velcro or the family disagree and want to keep it all private then their views rule.
