Hello all,
Been lurking for a while, time for an intro....
Not in London, currently banished to the social wilderness that is Newcastle-under-Lyme near Stoke; lived in Brighton for 5 years, thinking about moving back.
Currently ride a stock 2008 Paddy Wagon...insurance replacement for a lovely columbus-tubed italian road conversion but planning a new build later this year. Just need to shed a few bikes/bits to justify a new one and a few kilos to make the most of it when it arrives.
Not sure of any scene here, know there is a track and a track league though so will check that out when it stops snowing.
Cheers,
John -

I've just bought my first fixed gear from a company called fellia. It has the word 'create' written on the frame.
I'm in two minds about it, 1; either it carries a voodoo curse or 2; it is shit and made out of shit parts and is therefore, well, shit.
If you are tempted by the nice colours and attractive price then all I can say from experience is beware.
I'm now in the middle of selling it and am gonna buy a 2nd hand fixie. -

Only a week and a bit to go to this so thought I'd lay it down for those who haven't seen it.
If you want to add your name to the list just click on thread and do so. Look forward to seeing you all on the rides to beers
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread15291.htmlNew Members Compass Beer Rides: 7pm Departure Trafalgar Sq
Things we do well on this forum, organise and go on a regular basis to Drinks, wherever they may be, and Ride.
So in the spirit of these two elements, comes the all new,
New Members Compass Beer Rides. It has been noted that meeting up with a big group of forumengers that you don't know in a pub can be slightly intimidating. So to make it less so, this idea has been put forward to combine drinks and rides.
Think of it as a Forum Fresher's week, without the hazing, so that the previous months new members get a chance to meet up with, and ride with fellow forumengers. Talk bikes, find out where drinks are, and get a good ride in at the same time
You can come out to the beers closest to you, or trek out to a beers on the otherside of town, safe in the knowledge that you'll be with people who a) know where they are going, and that b) someone will be heading back in your general direction so you can ride home in the company of another forumenger. So For One Week, every couple of months, there will be rides from Trafalgar Sq, to the Beers,
**Monday - Souths @ The Coach and Horses
Tuesday - Norths @ The Flask or
Tuesday - South Easts @ The Kings Arms or
Tuesday - Trixie Dix @ **White's Row Car Park Roof. White's Row, Off Commercial Street
Wednesday - Easts @ The Royal Inn on the Park
Thursday - Wests @ The Crabtree or The Ship (season dependent)
Sunday - Polo @ Brick Lane Polo Courts.A couple of regulars from each beers will be at Trafalgar Sq from approx 6.30 for a prompt 7pm departure, (1pm for a 1.30pm departure on Sunday) And will take any new member who so wishes for a ride which will arrive at beers/polo.
The first Compass Beer Rides will be
Feb 16-23 2009.with provisional dates for the following being
Apr 6-12
Jun 8-14.So New Members start here, come down to the ride to the beers, introduce yourself to other new and regular members, get a good ride into a beers, enjoy a soothing alcoholic beverage in the soothing presence of your new found bike friends and get a warm and fuzzy feeling at being welcomed into the collective forum bosom.
Ps.
The meeting up and departure time could be bought forward by half an hour if enough people want to meet and leave earlier. That is all...

^^Read Cornelius Spamfoot's post above and come down to a drinks night.
Keep an eye out on here and you will find all the bits for a new beast.

Anyway I've just bought an IRO angus frame and fortuitously been given a raleigh sirocco that was found in a bin (honest) and may need some advice.
I'm a natural borne hoarder; just bought some tipo low flange 36h hubs without any real idea of whether they fit either frame. ha!
