Sadly people who take the attitude that they can take an extra day off are often the people who find themselves with plenty of spare time on their hands. We are in a recession. Job losses are happening. More will happen. Getting another job is going to be very difficult. If you want to keep your job, show that you are willing to make an effort. Get noticed making an effort. Then when the choice comes down to you or the other guy, you may still be working this time next year.
