At least they were taking backups.. that's more than I can say for some companies I've worked with.
Everywhere I have worked (and work for) talked of backups. But then either failed to implement any, or did so in an utterly useless way.
The biggest backup failure was a certain government department who "accidentally" deleted 6 months worth of work, and then found that they hadn't actually taken a backup for 4 months and even that was incomplete. Sum result? A several million pound loss of work and what ended up as a 6-month delay in a major programme. It was shocking, and yet they were so nonchalant about it. Backup fail.
Backup is not even a hard thing to do, there's really no excuse.
