On the off-chance this gets rustled across the border from Hackney. It's fairly distinctive, any sightings welcomed, including of dumped bags. It's immobilise.com'd.
Bags (might get dumped?):
Handlebar bag, blue Ortlieb with tools, microfile diary, gloves etc
Pannier, dark green Ortlieb, patched & well scratched, containing box of Clipper herbal tea!
Frame matt-silk black, no markings except Thorn and Reynolds badges
Wheel rims, hubs and seat post also black
Rohloff 14-speed hub gears, i.e. big fat rear hub
Dynamo front hub, ie also fatter than normal
Brown Brooks leather saddle
Front v-brakes mounted on back of fork
Pitlock spanner-proof nuts on both wheels (ha!)
Frame 436L05002
Stolen in Lower Clapton Road, 5 pm 28 Jan.
i'm sorry, but you don't leave a bike like that locked outside in east london.
Yeah but what sucks is that you can't. After all, you see plenty of nice cars, carelessly left in the street with only a fairly simple locking device, all over East London. So we have to ask ourselves: how can we protect our nice bicycles? Just never go out? I for one hardly ever lock anything up anywhere, even with my shite bikes.
My thought, too.
'Stolen from Lower Clapton Road' might mean the bike was stolen from the owner. I suppose Oliver would have mentioned it if it was out of the ordinary, though. But to leave luggage on a bike locked up seems odd.
What really scares me is that geeky touring bikes are worth nicking. i guess this one sounds pretty sexy-looking.
