I've been looking at purchasing some pedals for my new bike, does anyone have any suggestions of a type to go for, I have limited clearance with from tire (about 90mm). I would ideally like some strap toeclip type, but they all seem to extend too far and I'm worried about catching the toe!
You'll have this problem whatever pedals you fit. Track bikes are designed with close clearances. They don't really need to turn sharply on an oval.
Best thing is to pray before riding that you don't catch your foot on the wheel. It's never that bad when you do anyway.

nice, but still t has a stuck seat post.
it's a track bike hence toe overlap, a little bit is fine

you'll only ever hit the wheel when going slowly anyways.

The toe overlap looks ok on that bike toby, i shouldn't feel worried about fitting clips/straps. You'll just need to learn to dip your foot while turning the wheel at slow speeds.

Soak stuck metal to metal in diesel for a week. Red diesel if you can get it. Works wonders.

Thanks for advice guys, pedals arrived today as did a dura-ace 1/2" 1/8" sprocket.
However the chain i bought from bike shop doesn't seem to fit... sold to me as a 1/8" chain... i'll take it back later to check.
Secondly will dura ace go ok onto my formula hubs ok? reading somewhere some thread incompatibilities? anyone had any experience?

The silver and block CARLTON decals were used in 1977, and I also have a 1980 bike with those details. Carlton, as you may know, closed up Worksop in 1982.
I own the brother of your bike !!

However, mine cost 45 pounds (frame only), and about 12x that much when i got done collecting the parts for it !!!

Great find! It's very similar, geometry also looks pretty steep for a road bike. I really like the decals.
Mine is currently inside for the winter, while the Graham Weigh stands in. I'm working on the rust patches and some kind of repainting before summer. Newer photos are here: http://bit.ly/oIV5w
I've also got some Condor/Campag Omega V's on it now. Roll on summer! - Don in San Diego, CA, USA
