Critical Mass at its height can attract more than 1,000 riders. Do you really think you can get them all into tweed? ;)
Oliver, don't knock it! this is a great suggestion (CMers dressing up as Nob.) ... obviously CM can't have any rules, but I'd HIGHLY recommend dressing like a toffee nosed wanker, the police suddenly start being nice to one! Can't imagine why they suddenly got all obsequious when they thought we were members of the Noble Classes.
Just back, pretty drunk, but what a magnificent, uplifting day. No hope of meeting everyone there but just great to see Dancing James, Vee and Jay, Skully, Precise, 50/14, Shark, Cornelius, JImbilly, Hippy and many, many others. I spend all day riding those roads every week and I've never felt so happy doing it. Thanks so much to Teddy and to everyone who guarded corners and junctions.
Hope everyone's post-ride evening was as enchanting as mine. Next time anyone criticises the LFGSS they should look at this thread and realise what a wonderful place this is and how capable it is of putting on such joyous events.
cheers one and all
+1, this forum aint a bad place to be.
Especially thanks to Teddy who kep this cool throughout, whilst some wouldn't have.
And many thanks the excellent CM-style blockers, who did it with aplomb and genteel courtesy, you know who you are. It made all the difference as the group hardly ever broke up. Running red lights in tweed is somehow so much more acceptable.
Nice to meet some people I haven't before, and bump into a few I already knew but hardly recognised in their thornproof finery. Lovely to see so many saddlebags.
