what's all the fuss about anyway, dulwich isn't that far!
Fred, as ever, possibly for reasons to do with his post count, hippy got there before you:

But there is indeed a Dulwich Dynamo. Quite frankly, it's a bit dull (boom boom) (not that I've ever been or even stand by this pun as far as its meaning is concerned) and I'm sure it'll die 'n a mo (crash bang wallop). But here are some links for the short-distancically inclined (and dare I mention BEER?):

You riding all the way home? Nuts.. although.. if we've got a small group riding back.. hmm..
Well, I say that now...
I'm thinking about it semi-seriously though. I had 175 miles on the clock by the time I go home last year, and I'll be a LOT fitter this summer. And it'll be all the easier if there are a few of us to
shameencourage each other into carrying on.Definitely on for the swimming although I hope I don't have to see the chafed arse of the kilted weirdo from 07 again.
Oi! He's a mate of mine, and a bit of a legend. Did it on a Brompton last year, and is talking about a penny farthing this year...
Depends on what you prefer, really ... rhythm ... grizzled Dunwichers ... make the ride last as long as possible
Oh god yes, the beauty of the ride is that you can make what you want of it. I rode it on my own for the first time last year, and it was my best yet (also the driest, which may have had something to do with that...). I ran into loads of people I knew, and rode sections of the route with them, but didn't feel obliged to keep pace with anyone. And I met the bloke who sold me my Condor, and the girl I'm still dating!
Somebody stop me - I could go on about the Dunwich Dynamo all night...

Oi! He's a mate of mine, and a bit of a legend. Did it on a Brompton last year, and is talking about a penny farthing this year...I thought there was probably only one kilt, all the way from Devon. Didn't the Brompton get delivered just a few hours before he had to set off for the DD start?
I hope his penny farthing dream comes true...

I reckon I might be up for this again, this year. Did it geared last year, wasn't it great shape, managed most of it fine but bonked massively about 5 miles from the finish because I hadn't eaten enough. Take a variety of food! You may get sick of the thing you thought would last you through...
Will probably do it fixed this year, am in better shape and have a better idea of what it involves...

In fairness to fred, the pun was invented around four years before hippy posted it here. By South London LCC members. Hang your head in shame, hippy.

Well, we've met and spoken on the FNRttC a couple of times but I think I blend rather too well with the crowd of middle-aged blokes with not much hair on top. I remember on one of the early FNRttCs someone took a photo on the seafront and posted it online, and some astute member pointed out that there was clearly a regulation hair-style (of lack-of-hairstyle).

Bromptons not much new, on my first ride I ran into the Brompeleton, a group of five riders all on Bromptons working together.
You should get him to team up with Didi Senft.

2006 was a deeply painful affair, I did it on an old squeaky mountain bike after a fairly heavy night and a day walking around London trying to find a bike for my mate, pretty much regretted that decision at about the Epping Forest mark...and then came the rain. Last year was perfect though; still, dry and moonlit all the way.

• #146
More info on this bike? Is that going on the DD?
-
• #147
Yep, it has some special catches on it that turn it into a recumbent so you can get it under rail bridges.

ffs, it's south of the river..
Can I suggest the Dalston Dynamo? Leaving london fields around 9, drafting at a moderate pace, and arriving around 9.05 in plenty of time for more beer..

• #149
excellent idea! why have we never done this before?

sounds good to me!
