Not nice to hear. Hope both are ok.

As with similar happening to a forumenger at Burgess Park, something really should be done......

Isn't Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets? Don't sully the 'good name' of Hackney ;p
edit: that sucks, though. Sad to hear that cyclists are being harassed/mugged there. A colleague of mine just got mugged in Tottenham, but you kind of expect that....

Sorry...
I was just being snarky b/c it seems like poor old Hackney gets all sorts of stick, all the time. I've only lived in Hackney for about a year and a half (and just moved slightly over the border into Haringey... the border runs through my garden), but I never really had a bad experience living there.

It was on the path in the park.

the authority are nodified? granted a lots of us feel there's no need as the chance of them helping is very slim, but what have you got to lose really?

The park is closed after 6pm. There's one road opened 24/7 which goes through the park. It's a bit creepy in there, but there are lights. I live like 5 mins away from there. Report it to police, hopefully they'll get it patrolled at night.

it be amazing to simply just pick up a gun and shoot the whole gangs, and the police will automatically write it as gang war, who would suspect a cyclist??
not that I'm encouraging such behaviour thought!!

Seriously hope your friend is doing ok, and I appreciate the heads up.

I wouldn't feel so comfortable riding through any park at night.
I know Victoria Park well and wouldn't want to ride through there anymore. The canal too.
Just bad news.
At least Em is ok. Not nice for anyone to be chased.
And Mr Object: I heard the news off Gabes and was really pissed off.
Keep safe.
Just a word of warning to everybody. After Object got jumped by a gang of guys just over a week ago..my other flatmate Em has just had two guys trying to attack her whilst she rode through there tonight.
She's ok as she managed to get away...but she's pretty shaken up still.
So avoid the park at nights...ride around it. It may be longer, but it's not worth the risk of riding through there at night!
"Good night, thanks for watching ,sleep well and don't have nightmares"
