I've got a B131 that I want smaller but keeping some of the springs, how much?
Hi
Not so sure about chopping the 'skirt' off a sprung saddle. Someone asked me this previously, and I wasn't keen.
Chopping is pretty easy. I can give you tips if you need some. Give it a try. But I'm sorry I don't want to get involved in butchering sprung ones. It just feels wrong to me. As for keeping some of the springs, you've completely lost me there. Is it one that has small springs stretched underneath the hide? In which case, don't make like an elephant: forget it.
Hi Skully, can I drop off my other Brooks for you to chop and repair.
Needs a little respect as its at least 50 years old.
The 17 is great.
Glad to hear your lovely special edition is riding nicely. It's a beautiful thing. And one of my best jobs, partly cos the split hide was so supple and soft.
About the old one: happy to give it a go, of course. I have to say there is a point at which an old saddle could be too far gone, but provided there aren't any serious tears and the surface is not too brittle deep down, it should be worth a pop. I will be at South Drinks next monday, after a little ride round RP first. Come along! Also, I'm happy to take the B17 back for some lettering (gratis) if you can spare it for a week or so. I think GROW UP or JAMES across the seat on that one would be ace!
Good to see you yesterday ben, looking forward to seeing my B17 next week!
Likewise. I have to say my workload might not permit getting it done by monday. Everythings going a bit mental. I'll pm you on Monday morning though, one way or another. you never know how much energy I might have come sunday evening.
