I quit at new year. I have also given up drinking for January and this has helped more than anything. I know from bitter experience that it's the booze which brings on the cravings the most. I am absolutely clucking for a drink but I hope that a month off will go some way to breaking the association. If you expect to feel a lot better straight away, don't: I coughed more shit up after my morning commute than when I was on the tabs. Week 3 is better. Do it.
