If we are talking about Black Cab Taxis then I don't think they are 'careless' more like skilled and deliberate intimidation e.g. overtaking you with only inches to spare or harassing you by driving inches behind your back wheel when they cant get past you. Mini Cabs yeah careless ...

The old west indian guy who fixes bikes at my local car boot also compliments my 'fix wheel' bikes, too. Wonder if theres a coincedence. Not the same guy though.
there are more veloromes in the west indies than the whole of the USA, apparently, I can't be bothered to check if this is true. Anyway there is proportionally high number, some are grass track ones.
it's quite popular, maybe these guys were into it from back home and still appreciate the bikes

In my own narrow experience, bus drivers are the least likely to want to run you off your bike. As long as you make allowances for their crappy field of vision, they always seem to give plenty of space and don't try and cut you up.
if aproaching a bus stop and i hear or see a bus behind me i always move out another two or three feet from the edge of the curb. by doing this dummnut driver has to think twice about overtaking and then pulling in which is what they do 98 % of the time. i do this as well approaching corners regardless of wether i am taking the turning or going straight on, it helps to prevent drivers overtaking and then swinging in. it works for me

I'm riding my raleigh lizard on the road most days, thinking about taking my vivalo to the spastics society, I mean scope. Never get any abuse when i'm tearing up the tarmac on that green badboy!!

I have to disagree. I've had so many of those fat bald pricks pull out on me without indicating, random u-turns. Rot in hell I say. The first time a black cab pulled out on me, I managed to turn in with it, holding onto the side of the car with my bars scraping. The prick didn't even fucking stop. Aids.

my point was that this sort of behaviour is different in that they aren't clueless shit drivers but deliberate bullies which is worse ?

True. 'Cyclist inferiority complex' is a recognised and regrettable condition. Be assertive when riding your bike and you'll enjoy it even more. Just look at rich people riding around Notting Hill on black clunkers with wicker baskets. They're often really bad riders but they exude confidence and others will keep their distance.

Yesterday I heard the car behind me honking and shouting, I turned round expecting to give the finger but it was some old west indian guy who shouted out that he loved my bike! My confused hand did a strange wave/thumbs up and I said thanks.
