  • nice! Can you barspin on all sizes of the gangsta track?

i believe so yes, they were designed to trick on, or jus go fast...

  • ill keep the braze ons, its gonna be a 3speeder, so ill need em for cables

and cheers to ed and rik for the complimets. ill try and find out the make, nothing on the BB either btw

Does that frame number start with a W? Can't quite make it out. Could be an n. If it is a W, it's a Raleigh. Stands for Worksop, where the "proper" ones were built.

  • Enough... the euro exchange rate really didn't help either - it's coming from hamburg - but the frames a beauty and bang on the right size.* Apparently * it's an ex germany team frame that was only ridden a few times...and I'm going to choose to believe that. F*cking love the double crown forks, I reckon I'll need another set so I can run a brake on the road though.

Keep the forks and run one of those clamp-on front brakes. I think Hubjub sell them.

The forks are identical to some that I got from Tour De Ville, from a belgian ex-rental velodrome bike. Made by Gios I believe.

Wow, quite pleased with that. I'm loving the complete lack of any branding on the frame, but some provenance info is always welcome!

Nice one Eddie, glad yo see you kept it as is and put in some good honest elbow grease.

    Good work!

  • Eddie, here's Sheldon's link for dating and identifying a Raleigh frame. Helped me confirm my 1953 Raleigh Superbe which, subject to getting my rims from the US in time will be ready for the tweed run. Aaarrrrrghhhh been waiting 6 weeks already!!!

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/raleigh.html dating info at the bottom of the page

  • So close with my vintage road bike project! Got the NOS lever hoods in the post at work...
Just needs cables + chain + decisions:
Saddle: Selle Italia Professional vs. yellow Turbo
    Seatpost: Selcof vs SR
    Handlebars: Cinelli 65-42 vs. 64-40
Stem: Cinelli old logo short vs. newer logo long
Drivetrain: Campagnolo SR vs Shimano 600 arabesque.

I got distracted during the 'procurement phase'... but the whole lot has cost me same as a 2009 langster. hahahaa!

  • finished. almost took as long to work out how to post a picture as it did to build the bike!

  • I do loves me a Bob Jackson.

    Nice view ;)

  • Just picked this up (out of a hedge with a load of other shit).
Should scrub up nice for the lady in my life, failing that I'll let the wife have it.

    Hercules Made in England.

Thinking of a really good clean and maybe an S/A rear hub.

  • Nice, good find. After something similar for the Mrs for the Summer

  • you found your missus in the bush and scrubbed her up?

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JvuF1gUS0DE

  • Better than finding something in her bush.

  • Like that urban myth about the fella who was shaggin that girl and the condom came off inside her, he pulled it out and 2 came out....

  • Not in Liverpool, eh! ;)

  • I believe it was in Didsbury

  • I like this build. Nice and simple.

    waffle

  • where do u guys keep finding these "gems" thrown away? the credit crunch is hitting us hard...going through rubbish..tsst

  • Freegans

  • hard to believe people throw away such nice bikes as the hercules....

  • I done made some powergrip-alikes

I'll have a proper go with them tomorrow, though a run up and down the road felt promising. Bag-strap material, doubled over (lengthways), machine stitched and bolted on.
I've got a feeling I might have to add a quill to my pedals so I can flim em over

maybe just cut your foot in two!
might need to be a tad thicker, spread the pressure

I recently Knocked these up, haven't had a chance to test them out yet, but they certainly won't cut your foot in two, they're hella beefy. Just need some washers yet to strengthen the holes a little, although it's pretty damn strong seat belt with holes melted through to seal the fibres.

  • First ride with my straps was great actually. Much easier to get in/out of than clips and they didn't make my feet sore.
Now all I need to do is sort out my silly gear ratio.

Did you get stung on customs? I'd love a gangsta track
