Where to buy spokes?

I've had a look on Chain Reaction but they only seem to sell MTB length spokes.

A lot of you are saying about the ACI spokes but I read somewhere they're not that good - how do they compare to DT Swiss?
great spokes, all that i use. 50+ builds.

I'm thinking of 3 cross on the rear wheel and no cross on the front. Is this is a good idea or should I just go for 3 cross on both?

I was thinking about this lately and just thought I'd go to the LBS instead and pay an extra 5p - they double check I've got my spoke lengths right too!

nah but i got a little payrise and i've nearly paid what i owed to my gf so i have a large comfort zone at the mo, just buying bit by bit, for now all i have is research and a listand am waiting for my frame to come bcak

also according to http://vocabforbreakfast.railsplayground.net/edd/ i need 280mm spokes for formula on velocity, 3 cross but there seems to be a gap in sizes between 270 and 290 so what size should I go for, has anyone got any experience?

don't get them with alloy nipples.

i use 280 for that combo.

It doesn't have to be exactly exact. I've built DVs to the same hub with 280 and 282 (after is was recommended that the 2 extra mm makes life a bit easier with DVs).

I'm havin' a bitch of a time getting hold of some black 278s... Nowhere seems to have them in... :[

No 278s... Nowhere has them online, I'll pop in and see Martin at BLB... See what's shakin'... Normally go to 53-12 but they're not cheap...

Anyoner ever used the DT Prolock brass nipples? And is it worth it for the extra £5ish?

I've got some... They're black and brass, so ticked both my boxes... They seemed OK, but I'm no expert builder...

your only choice for black brass nipples. little harder putting on, but hold well.

Re: Nipples - Found them for £8.99 a set of 36 is this about right?

Think my 100 box was £20ish...
