i'm not up on all the mod brands of frames, i am more of an oldtimer ,,, so i guess i should clarify, i like the bars on the bike in the middle. they look like vintage lauterwasser bars. cheers

Yeah, they're the Charge Plug Racer bars. They come as standard on that bike.
I think that Andy at Fixed Gear London has a new pair going spare.
Interestingly, a little bird tells me that they were a mistake - they were supposed to be more like classic deep drop track bars, but the factory fucked them up. Worked out well if you ask me...

Ha . . this reminds me of snowboarding, where us older shreds have a phrase "Snowboarding . . .it was better when the hated us" . . . snowboarding has been pimped out and prostituted to shit now, hell Shaun White has a clothing range at Target, thats like Super Ted having his own "Fixie by George" range at Asda!
At the end of the day does it really matter? No . . . hell next year half of hoxton will be probably be going round on rollerblades, ononelangster will be leading the freestyle unicycle scene, and Pistanator will have a Don Walker frame . . .

I thought they must be but the Racer on their site has some very modern boring ones - well as much as I can tell from the profile picture anyway.

The bike on the site was the sample, the ones that came from the factory are as you see them in the Top Shop window.

I can only speak of Norway but, the telemark ski stole a few percent of the number of boarders on the mountains a few years back. The fat carving ski on the other hand, has now all but taken over. So snowboarding has become the minority sport on the slopes again. Which, for some reason, I prefer.
(well apart from the odd mono-skier that I still see)

next year Pistanator will be serving six months for incitement to racial hatred...
Fingers crossed...

Since when has gypsy been a race?
Since they left India as a lower part of the cast system traveling west. Their first major port of call was Egypt, where their name, Gypsy came from. Anyways, I'm not getting involved until there's an official announcement that Pony are getting re-released (those stow-away tongues were just so useful).

They are ludicrously comfortable. The tops are wide enough and the sweeping drops low enough to get a nice upright or an aero/hillclimb position easily. And they're not as wide as they might seem.
Mad plus points to charge for them, even if they're a defect!

I work on Oxford Street and despite commuting there on bike I haven't seen this window display, largely due to me normally being late for work or in a hurry to get home, so I haven't had the time to look. Hopefully I will be able to manage to do this soon......
Has anyone gone in there and asked how long the display will be there for, and what is happening to the bikes afterwards?
Mind you, some people on this forum might be more interested in the shop dummies !!!! -

No, its embarrassing for all of us.
It means it is now officially an accessory of clothing.
TBH, it seems a bit late in the trend.I take it you didnt buy yours in the last year...The sooner that half those who have, get rid of them the better. The scene is nothing more than a way for dumb highstreeters to gain some identity and probably now all write on here like they've been riding SS since their paper round

you know who you areDon't you see everything goes like this?! No body owns "fixed gear" supposedly if I go by this thread... it's all good while "fixed gear" stays underground, then as soon as it gets popular (which it will because it's good) "fixed gear" is shit!
These is the same thoughts that couriers had when all of you guys started riding your bikes about a year ago (I'm generalizing here) Now they kind of accept the "newbies" because they can't do shit about it!! All they do is charge extra for a fakenger to enter a "realenger" alley cat or suggest that you buy courier/messenger type related gumpf because you think its cool to dress like someone that legitimatefys you riding a track bike on the road....
I might of got carried away there... sorry, I just can't believe that not many people get whats going on.
peace.

you know who you areWhat a fucking cunt.
And I'm not being touchy because I would be the "dumb highstreeter". Yeah, I got my "mainstream" charge plug freestyler just over a MONTH ago. Fu-cking bite me.
I didn't take your post personally btw, it's your attitude which I can't bear.

you know who you areDoes a BMX count as single speed - that is what I used for my paper round. One gear for me after a brief teenage flutter with my Raleigh Lizard.
That sort of talk will only agitate people - play nice! Bikes = good, whoever rides them.

Because they dont have lime green deep V's?
Why arent they cool enough? how cool are you -is that cool? tell me how. is it the deep V's?
The fish smell is trueWith the Charge Plug mate-fine its obvious you've accepted you are trying to hop into a highstreet fad-but at least you've kept it highstreet and not put any nice parts on it to try and step up to the wank that some people post on here.
keep riding

you know who you areDoes that mean if more and more people start riding fixed gear you'll stop because it's a fad? I've been riding fixed for almost a year and for different reasons, one being aesthetics. So fucking shoot me.
Let the Topshop kids get on it, buy a unicack, stick an Arrospok on the front and end up in a heap of shit. Some will inevitably stop once the seasons have changed and some will continue to ride for many years.

What the hell are you on about? A fad? Try asking people why they bought they're single-speed bikes in the first place. I'd say about 99% of us will have ridden a bike regularly before that. Maybe, you could consider the fact that we wanted to try something new?
Stop being a close minded elitist and accept the fact that other people like to try things and that those who recently came into the world of single speed road bikes (not the glorified cult you seem to think it is) will either move on within a year or stick to it much like I intend to do and contribute to communities like this with a kind face and a few pints at the drinks/tricks/riding sessions.
