Hello all - just saying hi - haven't rode for about 10 yrs - built a fixie from bits lying around in the college bike shed - but it wasn't very reliable! Dropped it touring in the cotswolds, and bent the frame. Anyway - looking to buy a bike soon - any hints on search parameters so I don't ask a very FAQ - budget is £300, needs mudguards and rack. Don't mind 2nd hand, don't mind building from scratch.
OTP = Off the peg. GA2G has a good list: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread9085.html

Top tube? ;)
What did you mean re: "the fixed TT bike on here. HED Jet wheels"
I searched all the likely words on here, even did TT through google, no luck :(It's all about the context and since we were talking about a timetrial bike..
I couldn't find it either, nevermind. The guy who rides it is on here. It's a nice fixed TT bike, is all.

Evening chaps, I have been enjoying scouting around the forum sculking in the shadows, watching from afar etc... I actually live in sunny Cornwall and just purchased a minty Raleigh Record Sprint, black with gold decals even the space shuttle on the seat tube! Exchanging bits and bobs to knock up a single/ fixed (got a flip flop hub to try both). I am moving up to Bristol in Jan to finish off a degree I started 4 years ago so 'Hi' to the Bristol contingent hope to meet up for a spin in the new year.

Thanks very much! I have a good idea of what I'll buy now - but, assuming I've graduated from the nursery, will post to the bike section for comments before I part with cash.

Just a pointer to what wildbill wanted to post and needed to repeat post first to (read it before assuming the worst folks):

willdbill, I'm afraid other than predictable platitudes I don't know what to say, but I do know that you'll find good people here willing to help with whatever they can as much as they can
