    No worries on maybe coming across as a FG snob, I knew it wasn't meant to be derogatory or anything, plus as I read this site I also understand that there is more to this than what I want from it, so opening my eyes is good even if its not for me.

    Lets not go near the recommended HR of 220 - age, my max is 196 so that makes me 24 which is great by me as I just lost 20 years :-D, and if you have a complex with hitting 30 wait till you hit 40 its more fun. Respect for you doing Earlham road daily, I do Plumstead Rd and the ring road and thats enough for commuting I'm much happier out in the county big or little roads.

    49 ring was picked to give me the right sort of speed and cadence I needed to rock and roll on training rides, sometimes its hard others its easy, hill round the coast are an effort but each time I go up I get faster so I must be doing something right.
