I got a little nugget of opinion for you, based on many years experience of having an opinion:
If you are seriously thinking about this (and it looks like you must be) then go for it. The worst that can happen is you don't like it, well then you can leave. It's not the army, you won't have to sign up for 9 years or get beasted by a nasty man with a moustache (unless it's metro and I don't think they're hiring, ;) ) and you can always look for other work whilst you're doing it and the people you meet through it may give you a springboard to something else, if that's what you decide.
