Best of both worlds.

water temperature is of utmost importance- boiling for black, 80 deg Celsius for green and white and oolongs anround 95.
many people are put off green teas due to a bitter taste but this is usually because they have used boiling water which scorches the leaves.
it all comes down to oxidationHa! and the coffee thread was getting shit for being geeky.. :)

Stewing tea is bad, by most accounts.
"Putting the tea in the water before you boil it will produce stewed tea. It's a very strong tea usually drunk with a lot of sugar. It's not to everyone's taste."
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Good-Cup-of-TeaLeaving the bag(s) in for about 4 hours will also stew tea. I learned the hard way the first time I made a thermos of tea for a really long ride. After 2 hours I thought, right my first stop of the day, I'll have a cup of tea and half a sandwich. I'd stupidly just poured water on top of 3 teabags, added milk and closed it up. I made the thermos about 2 hours before I left, hence the 4 hours in total. That tea tasted so strong I could have stood bread up in it.

Ah-ha. No, the person who corrected me insisted that 'brewing tea' should be 'stewing tea'. Consensus opinion seems to be that 'brewing tea' is something different from 'stewing tea' and that stewed tea exists but isn't as drinkable as brewed tea. Thanks.

As far as I can tell, stewing tea makes a fucking soup. It's undrinkable, tastes horrible, and would be better used as a substitute for Waxoyl.

Stewed tea = tea that has been brewed for too long.
I am currently drinking chili tea. Spicy!

Maybe it can be used as fuel, too?

I'm currently drinking a delicious tea called Verveine tea. Highly recommended. Beautiful leaves, lovely lemonish flavour. Should be widely available in London, as quite a lot comes up when Googling.

tea can only be called as such if it contains tea. take your verbena infusions elsewhere!

If you can find Assam Joonktollee BUY IT! The only problem is you'll never be able to drink normal tea again.
I certainly prefer tea to beer! Easy one, this.
