I got brakes on my racing bike, and my commuter, no way do I go balls out unless I have brakes, still a nice classic track bike like this with double crown fork would be ideal for banging down to the pub/shops/gym and back, you know like a little neighbourhood beater - a beautiful bike is like a beautiful woman - needs to be shown off - don't ask Hippy - he thinks a woman is there to clean and cook

You're suggesting using a classic track bike as a 'down to the shops' beater.
Methinks you're confused. Why not just build a beater? Save the track bike for the track or your front room.
