It's not a strength issue, it's the fact that it's a nice fork and shouldn't be fucked up just for a fixed conversion. Fork swapping allows resale of original bike.. like my Raleigh.

exactly... which is also why i never removed all the gear-related braze-ons of either of my road-fix conversions...
