Campy skeleton brakes are great IMHO. I've got Chorus but I hear Centaur are much the same.

I'm in the same boat with standard shimanos - The Skeletons look nice, basicly I want the best breaks money can buy..would you say that they are?

105's are great calipers and can be had for a good price.

Condor was doing end of line Campy Veloce front and back for £22! Snagged 2 sets, They had Centaurs on big discount too

These are the best brakes that you can buy.
A little bit above your desired price range though. -

I want thoes ones please.

not used those zero's but a friend has a pair and he doesn't like them. fiddly to set up and they felt a bit on/off. i'm sure lots of people like them though.
i like dura-ace. they seem very well made and feel like they will last a lifetime. you may be able to pick up some of the older 7800 ones if the new ones look to 'modern' for you

Lightest brakes you can buy? Maybe.
Best brakes you can buy? Maybe not.

They're very powerful as Mr Smith says (I don't own a pair by the way).
And once you take the cam into consideration they do not work like a single pivot brake. -

Those Campys look nice... Have they got the "quick wheel release" thing that Shimanos can do? Can't see how that would work on those?

The Zero Gravity ones are the mutts nuts. But like Object says they also have the price tag to match.
I've always lusted after these Mavics. Not cheap either, come as a pair and no QR. But light, stop well (so I am informed) and look good to.

Tektro TRP Cheaper and lighter than Dura-ace.
(now available in Carbon wrap)

Look better in the flesh!
No quick release though. But, if you set them up at the limit of the barrel adjuster, wheel removal should'nt be an issue. -

just saw what you mean about the price of the Zero Gravity option: Ouch...I may take back my statement about 'the best that money can buy'

It is on the brake lever.

One day I'll get around to buying a set.
Just need the worthy road bike to put them on first. -

I think the quick release may be on the lever.

The lever you say? Madness.

Check this thread for brake porn..
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread1163.htmlUltegra, DA and 105 brakes are pretty much on par.

and lever
I've got stock bottom-of-the-range Shimanos on at the mo'. I usually go for quality belt and braces kit, but stop short of out-and-out ponce. I was looking at 105's or Ultegra, but wondered if anyone else has a love affair with their particular calipers?
