Personnaly I love the stupid and pointless posts, some of the more witty folk on here write. Brightens my day.
or just go back to when the forum had 51 members and ban everyone else !!
I may be misreading this, but it sounds awfully like one of my father-in-laws anti imigration rants, does this.
I know this forum is proud of its lack of censorship, but when a post is deemed to be offensive, maybe some sort of Neg-rep/warning could handed out.

There have recently been a number of people whom I respect the actions of.
They've seen that things are not running in a manner in which they find happiness and have moved on. In their cases absence of words dictate action. I respect them for their commitment.I will continue using this forum for arranging parts of my social life but it will be in a less obvious way. I'm sick to fucking death of the frequenters who are dragging FGSS down to the level of every other testosterone driven, narrow minded, sexist forum on the web.
You have ruined something which was once beautiful.
'There was once a dream that was LFGSS. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish. It was so fragile and I fear that it will.'
I thought I was an up-tight person but I read the thread and thought although the protagonanists seemed a little angry I found the whole episode ammusing. Just people playing. Can I suggest the forumemngers that are upset by the thread look away, those who have been reprimanded........you know who you are.... behave. Now can we get back to riding ,looking at,talking about and even trading ...bikes.
Long live FGSS

Unfortunately this thread is indicative of the way the forum is.What I really need is for VB top setup and unignore function where every user is automatically ignored until I click a button. I could unignore the people I like and not have to worry about the rest.
That or I could starting using this page for all of my future internet needs.

Ive seen the same ones on a Basic Dolan.
Im not at all ashamed of this thread, the seller was dishonest and self-admittedly just trying to make more cash to put in his shoe.
Ive seen so many posters shot down in flames for sssoooo much less on LFGSS!
For example a member I knew quite well on a BMX forum ZED4130, totally a sound friendly guy. Came on here and got the piss ripped out of him and was forced to leave merely because he had a unipack.
He actually did proper track racing in the 80's/early 90's & had lots of fancy bikes but got rid of them because the scene got so snobby and about equipment.
But has still been an avid cyclist & non-car owner always.
He bought the Unipack specifically because it was a cheap completely basic bike, and thought the whole idea of riding fixed on the street was having a no frills bike, but because of the simplicity itd perform as well as some carbon cock rocket. He thought this 'scene' was non-pretentious & had more of a DIY punk ethic.
But yeah, everyone nit picked, and made personal insults based on nothing other than his bike. Basically telling him to piss off and good riddance.
Now that to me was the forum at the worst.

Forgive me DFP if I'm inclined to disagree but I believe most of the people that I refer to as unfortunately absent have had some form of grievance with you in the past.

nobody is "forced" to do anything by a forum

Wow look @ all the people on this forum!!!!!Sorry the bike has been sold!!!Now to all those haters, you can go do something constructive like ride your bikes!!!!!Me and my son are practicing up Arsenal Football Arena (Emirites),if any one would like to join us for tricks your all welcome.
I don't know you mate (we met briefly at polo when i had to get the young ones to wear helmets) your son is a good rider, hats off to you for being supportive of what he likes doing.
If all parents engaged their children in activities they liked I think it would be a much nicer and safer city.

Did you think you had found Arcadia/Nirvana? When my bikes get broken down with use I like to overhaul them and clean them up. When they are renewed they remind me why I loved riding them so much. When VB built LFGSS he must have known that whatever he wanted it be it would always assume its own character. So I believe there are only 2 options, 1) Help to preserve and build on the LFGSS ethos 2) Leave the forum.......and burn eternally in hell. (Just kidding about the last bit.)

I found something whcih for a time way fun, I made some very good friends and have some great memories and a shit load of funny stories. This forum provided something which I enjoyed and felt like being a part of.
You say there are two options, change it or leave.
I'd counter by agreeing that there are two options but not those two.**Your unrealistic option 1) **Making the forum anything is not viable from a single person perspective. There are already too many people here and it isn't my forum to try and change.
Realistic Option 1) Stop reading the forum but continue to occasionally use it for certain things, contact details/rides/polo etc
Option 2) Leave
I fear that option 1 will eventually become option 2 anyway but it's the only thing I can consider doing in the mean time. As with any body of people once a critical mass is achieved things will change into a different dynamic. No longer is the forum a group of friends. This is an accepted place for anyone to come to talk about fixed wheel bikes. VB's imagination brought this to fruition and it has proved successful but from my perspective it has become something which I no longer want.
There are better ways to waste my time.

I consider myself lucky to have joined the forum early on when there were opportunities to meet, ride and chat shit with peeps, I could put faces to about half the forum names
the forum has evolved and it must be quite daunting to newcomers with just the volume of people and there does seem to be a lack of accountability for what people are posting as in many cases they are unlikely to meet the person on the receiving end.
this isn't meant to be a rose-tinted retrospective about the good old days, just a reflection on how things change - I've met and ridden with a load of peeps I wouldn't have otherwise met but it isn't the place to come and have shits and giggles so much anymore as you have to wade through a fair bit of hate and cock waving
your new avatar made me chuckle Mr Langster…

Object, I would counter by saying that one person can make a difference, history is littered with examples. It is not just yourself who previously held the forum so dear, BDW stated the very same just after you. I wasn't a forumenger from day1 but even as a relative latecomer I have enjoyed the forum and met many new friends. I'm sorry you can no longer find what you previously enjoyed here. See you up the road. FE

History may be littered with examples of individuals making a difference but I'm not that power hungry, if other people seriously want too then I'm sure they could change the forum into something else but I'm not that person and some of the people I'd think capable are also lacking in their current internet activity.Plus there's always something else just over the horizon which I haven't experienced yet. Maybe it's somewhere on this road of which you speak? It will likely be a lot of fun finding out.

Agreed, there is always another adventure to be had, hence see you up the road. A metaphor for the journey that is life.

Is it a Bowery? Where are the water-bottle-bits? Does the Bowery have a square chain-stay? Head-tube looks different.

Dunno if it is a diff year, but the space where the top tube and .. bottom tube? connect to the headset seem to be quite different. The "firebird' looks a lot tighter...

It would be a lot simpler if the Op would just say what it was or maybe even included it in his post.

A larger frame will have a larger space between the top and downtube on the headtube. One may be a 54, the other a 56cm.
just out of interest, who is member 531
