"Think of a great photograph; i bet it didn't haven't a shallow depth of field."
one of Sally Manns. more photographic talent in her little finger than the whole of this forum put together. all shot on 10x8 or larger with bugger all depth of field
If that's true, how come you can't even see the models tits? textbook error.

if you want to then you are a paedophile her models tended to be her children who she made to look a lot older and sexualised the subjects in a very uncomfortable way. Personally I think she had issues.

true

ok, but, she's used a longer (0.5s?) shutter speed and water to achieve the same effect of subject in focus + background bokeh. So there goes your argument.

there's some of you who is a bit confused by the whole 'cropped sensor' on DSLR.
ed the only thing I'm confused about is why people would be confused!
simple innit.
and: I just traded in a FF sensor camera (1Ds) for a crop sensor + 2 L lenses. The lenses won't devalue, whereas every body does.
so there.

Bought a mother fucking Nikon 80-200 f2.8 today, the lens is enormous, it makes me feel like a real man, I might go out tonight and get pissed up and kill some people.

I have an 80-200 2.8 its a beast of a lens I love it. Pin Sharp and better in my opinion than the overrated and overpriced 70-200mm 2.8

you should, you totally should do that. you rule.

no point worrying about if a sensor has great natural colours if you only shoot jpegs in sRGB and view on an uncalibrated monitor and not printed properly.
Any recommendations on products for calibrating monitor/printer, would be greatly appreciated.

The 80-200 has an aperture ring, this alone drew me to it's gigantic barrel like silhouette as it danced naked and unboxed in the shop window like a cheap optically accurate whore.

I know, it's true, I am going to get my leather trousers on and then go out and rule.

as I said earlier, order prints from photobox, they usually send out a calibration print with your first order (looks like a TV test card), they have the same image on the website, so you can compare the two as you twiddle your monitiors knobs!...
It's a few years since I did this, so worth checking if they still do this....

Today I bought an axe with a 6lb head, makes me feel the same way, think I might have more success though.

what's that for, kindling?

Although tools shouldn't be interesting and it's the results that count, given the prices of modern lenses a little interest in glass can save money. Such as the photo in post #1 - I use a 1965 Takumar f1.4 lens (£14ish) on a 20d. Way way cheaper than a modern f1.4 50m lens. And it helps take some great photos (bokeh-tastic) :)

that´s all that needed to be said, I won a photography competition 2 months ago using a Kodak disposable camera whether everyone was using their 500 quids digital camera.

I have a wood burning stove...and they just cut down the ash tree in the ground-floor flat's back garden, free heating for a couple of years....
google told me it was an add-on
