It's slippery outside people!

Damp is where they've put the salt out, stops it freezing, but the hydroscopic action of the salt draws the moisture from the atmosphere onto the road.

So that's where the shiny surface comes from?

Last night, coming home from the cinema, I was slipping all over the place on my feet. Fun. This morning there was lots of icy surfaces out in the burbs.. city slickers can worry less I guess since the larger traffic volumes?, more salting? seems to remove the ice from the roads.
