  • Yeah that lookvery cheeky with the mud guards on, hats off!

mmmm as for the seat position, I have not moved it since I finished making the bike, I will have a play around with the hight and see what feels the best.

  • my old raleigh cruiser, with guards!!!

I remember you posting this before. I really like it but I think it'd look loads better (and probably loads nicer to ride) if the bars were the right way up. Were they comfortable enough like that?

  • just finished hand polishing everything for the nago...

dips, what have you done to get that finish? what's the technique?

  • I'm going to guess; Autosol?

  • no problem i want as many people suffering as i did!!!

    • variety grit of sand paper.. 180 / 320 / 1000 wet / 2000 wet
    • dremel tool with wire brush and soft polishing head
    • EASY OFF OVEN cleaner ( with lye very important)
    • meguiar's metal polish
    • terry cloth
    • chamois

    His shiny shiny method.

  • did it take long to arrive? where there any problems/import tax etc.
    cheers for the info btw

No probs at all... Took about a week with free delivery, asked them to declare $20 on the customs form or cancel the order... Piece of piss! Being fitted by a man who can as we speak! :D

  • I got mine through Aspire too - v helpfull and no customs

  • Collecting this on sunday...

Not sure what to do with it. First thing to go will be that crappy ferrari badge below the fork crown! Any ideas?

nice clearances on that Bad Boy

  • dips, what have you done to get that finish? what's the technique?

A dose of HTFU and some serious amounts of elbow grease.

  • Doing a project in my shop. Some pics are here. http://deedubbayoo.blogspot.com/

    enjoy!

    DW

  • dips, what have you done to get that finish? what's the technique?

It's really easy rik, lotsa Autosol or any other chrome paste... The more love you put in the more you get back! ;]

  • CK StealthSetâ„¢ installed... Just need to fix that brake cable now, looks hideous...

  • Now you've gone all Sotto Voce on the headset. Next step, decal removed from the stem?

  • Yup, gotta be done Mr Pelago... May just get a Sharpie in there for now... How far do you go tho'? All the way? This is my beater! ;]

  • teens' does that gripnut headset mean you're running an ahead converter just so you can rock the thompson....

    wow.

    that be slavery right there...

  • Yeah, it's fucked up... I couldn't bear to let go of the Thomson, was running it on the IRO before... Tho' I've just picked up a zero stem I'm gonna have a try-out with... Might make an already on-the-titchy-side frame plain ridiculous... All good fun tho'... :]

  • Built a pair of wheels over the weekend, new bike has now graduated from hoverbike to flinstonesbike.

  • Are they KinLin rims? Can I ask who supplied them?

  • Plain old CXP33s I'm afraid.

  • what tyres? Do they come in black with the traditional wall colouring?

  • Yeah, it's fucked up... I couldn't bear to let go of the Thomson, was running it on the IRO before... Tho' I've just picked up a zero stem I'm gonna have a try-out with... Might make an already on-the-titchy-side frame plain ridiculous... All good fun tho'... :]

Looking awesome - got a zero going on my new build, there the nuts!

  • Evening fixie pixies and gentelmen, new to the forum, hope this project is half as good as some of the stuff you make.

Anyway I finally set to restrip and rebuild an old racer i got from a local dealer here, in Cambridge (i know, im not a Londoner, which has its pluses you know), for dirt cheap.

Its a lovely mid eighties Dawes Shadow. The photos below are how it looked like when I bought it except for it had a luggage rack and different (crappy) pedals. Over the few months that Ive owned it, I changed a ton of things like the gears, seat and brakes but only until recently that I decided to make it into a fixie. I didn't bother looking for a new frame as this one has a nice horizontal drop out and it looks great.

This weekend, stripped everything off the bike and the paint off frame. Sprayed it into a lovely metalic two coat finish.

While the paint dried I got bored and weighed some stuff for the bike.

By cutting a chunck off the suuupa-dupa long seatpost I saved myself more than 50grams for every journey. But the seatpost gained 3 grams with the gold paint, which may mean I will have to skip breakfast every morning. Not only is this a bike build, but this is becoming Scientific! Im surpirised you're still reading this.

Anyway this is what it looks like so far, still half-drying, more photos to follow when I polish and put this beast together.

  • Nice!

  • Bring the hate:

    I love it.

Was thinking of using a front disc brake for my next build. How does it ride?
