It's a shame i have to post in this thread ....
My mate has had his Fuji Track stolen today, whilst at uni.
Taken from the back of Somerset House/ Strand Campus can't say what timeProblem (he realises) is that it's bog standard, black/charcoal coloured one with a black gold finger
Obv. going to Brick Lane and watching the 'bay and cunt-tree.
Where do you find the numbers for the helpful bobbies at Brick Lane and also where abouts around there do they go to, as its massive and we've only ever really gone to Rough Trade and that bar accross the way?
Thanks

how did he lock his bike up? it sound like he didn't lock it up properly or use a shit lock.
-
• #1079
yeh might be helpful to say how the bikes were locked to prevent others doing the same. would be curious if all these bikes are stolen when not locked, locked with cable or locked with Krypto Fug. If the latter, we're all doomed, what more can you do.

the best outcome of having your bike stolen is learning how to lock it up/which area/kind of lock, otherwise it'd be completely wasted if you got another bike stolen.

Special interest for me as I go to King's (like your friend) and lock up down there as well..
Do tell how it was locked up, with what and to where

I told him to get a better lock ... thats all that needs saying about that really (sigh)
So dont worry wasnt a fug, some not so good cable thing
Im at Kings to, we both tended to lock our bikes up to the big gates that are under the archway, the gate you go through if you come in off waterloo bridge to avoid the main entrance? If you get me.
Also which is your bike :) -

im also at kings... mines the blue gios normally locked to the railing with the massive drop on the other side. Thought it was relatively safe in the quad but now im starting to wonder... might have to buy a third lock!

do you have a photo?

There seems to be this massive blindspot when people post their nicked bikes... So often the question is, "how was it locked, what to, what type of lock" etc. We are sharing knowledge here and it might help looking for the bike, front wheel was left, frame was cut, lock was cut etc... Just a suggestion, but everyone wants to know.

Everyone at Kings - I had a bike nicked from that bit by Somerset House, went to the police and they said 'yeah you shouldn't have locked it there, it's a DEN OF BIKE THEFT'.
Also, I asked to see the CCTV footage only to be told it wasn't actually filming.
Just to make you feel better.
I was using a pretty crappy lock though.

tricity - which bit of kings? the racks where everyone locks their hybrids or actually in somerset house?
im shitting it now! i kinda hoped that because there was a security gate, people would be put off... stupid thought i guess! -

(I really hope they've got rid of the butterfly racks now?) I have no idea where the bit with the security gate is (possibly a new addition? I haven't been there for about three years) so you're probably fine.

STOLEN: my friend Pete's fixed gear bike from somewhere in East or East Central London yesterday afternoon.
Poor guy is gutted. Please keep a look out on Bricklane, Gumtree etc
JSJ fixed manchester track frame (baby blue, powder plastic coated)
Miche hubs with Mavic open sport rims
Very cut down flat bars with bmx grips and worn selle marco saddle, set absurdly high
Columbus carbon forks (sandblasted dark blue) -

Yebo, sorry to hear about that. Can you tell people though how the bike was locked and what kind of lock was used. It will help future people from falling into the same trap, that is if the bike was poorly locked.
