I ran a ceramic open pro with V-brakes on my Klein (now sadly departed) and the braking power was (for V-brakes) awe inspiring.
I could lift the back wheel up into a lovely long stoppie as the power and modulation were spot on.
I "upgraded" to a disc brake, and apart from in heavy rain/thick mud the old V-brake/ceramic rim combo was far superior.

The guy showing me the wheels was re-building them with non-ceramic open pro since the braking was so poor. Just feeling the surface I could see why - totally smooth.
