  • hey,

new to the forum...have had a recent 'thing' (bordering on fetish like lol!) for single speed bikes.

hoping to build one from scratch...havent a clue how to go about it but i cant wait none the less....have been on ebay lookin for some frames buthavent really found anything suitable to my budget at least

ps that bike below is pretty nice/...not so sure aout the bubble...def wouldnt be able to pull that off

The bubbles are awesome! But never mind...

What is your budget. Realistically. How much are we looking at for the whole build? Also, it's not going to be immediate! I had a very similar feeling to you and just really wanted a fixed gear.
You have two main options, you can either:

    1. Buy a new track bike such as a Fuji Track, Bianchi Pista or Charge Plug. Priced around £300-£500 if you shop at the right place
      or you can:
    2. Buy an old road bike that has horizontal (don't have to be perfectly horizontal, just in that general direction) and then replace or adapt the rear wheel. You could probably do that for around £100-£150 if you get a couple of good deals.

Feel free to ask any questions about my build. I took option 2. and went even cheaper, but some people will frown on some of the set up options I've made.
