  • this is weird, the forum has turned into some online messenger thing (no pun intended)

  • ok, pun intended

  • I might put that non-specified ready meal in the oven and watch 'Silverstreak' on 4+1.

    That's how I'm rollin'

  • ok, pun intended

    Pun repudiated.

  • fuck, you rollin' deep!

i might bash out another 400 words on old Roby Morris's 1971 mash up and then bake my chain.

    peas out

  • Can we get back to some tricks now?!

Trackstands confuse me. I have no problem trackstanding no-handed, sitting straight up on my saddle. I find that pretty easy, almost a minute. However, lasting more than about 5 seconds with hands on or near the bars is fucking impossible for me? Yeah they're drops and quite low, but still!

    Any advice?

Are you turning your wheel towards your front foot or you back foot? I'm still learning, and by no means an expert, but it's meant to be easier for some if you point the front wheel towards your front foot. But this doesn't always work. I think you need to just get plenty of practice in and try different things to find what feels right to you. Everytime you stop at a set of lights, try trackstanding instead of putting a foot down. That's what I'm trying to do at the moment. Hopefully it'll become second nature after a while.
Track standing at the lights is also a much quicker way to get off the line. There's no messing about trying to find your pedal/clip!

  • Fast wheelies,slow wheelies,on hand 2 hand,swap hand,I love the wheelie!!!

Turns out that non-specified ready meal was some kind of 'pie' affair.

early hours of the morning are where the affairs usually get down to the nitty gritty.

  • . . . I think it had some nitty gritty in as well.

nto sure how to post youtube clips properly, anyone?

  • Tynan I really thought you were going to backwards circle over your cat for a moment there. Ill maneuvers though!

At Lurker - Yeah, my wheel is in the right place, about 75 degrees towards my forward foot. I'm certain my technique is pretty much correct on no-handed trackstands, but I'm just going to have to re-jig it for hands on bars.
Your right though, trackstanding at lights is fun. Because I can only really no-handed for a lengthy period of time, I look like I'm really showing off. It's hilarious. Someone screamed "go back to the circus" one time, although that may have been the tiny car with 30 clowns in it behind me.

  • Nice!

  • any hints - just trying outside now and can't - struggling to actually hold the saddle with my things.
Its basicly how you normally pop into a wheelie except you have to lean back so much that you think you might die. if you can ride along no hands and make the front wheel jump up a bit then you can get into it, you just push down hard with your prefered foot and clench and shift your weight back. Its pretty hard to explain but try getting the front wheel to just jump off the ground then its a more exageratted action of that.

That is a pretty long winded post.

  • lean back so much that you think you might die

    ok.

  • This one time, I tried to hop up a double step... and I got a puncture.

  • ok.

It may not be the best tip but its how i feel when i do it, ha.

  • this has to be by far the 'raddest' trick to be pulled in a velodrome!

  • One of the few decent pics from last tues i took, my skills sucked that night.

  • Just out of interest, what are people trackstanding times? I'm hell of novice and I was pretty chuffed with 1 and a half minutes no handed today. It was outside a uni building where I practise and I even got a little clap from some people on a bench.

Although that is clearly fuck all, I was wondering what times other people have racked up?

thats a really boring thing to ask, like asking people who occassionaly have stare-out comps how long they can stare into space.

  • 98% of the time i can do it until i get bored.
