I have a Phil BB, worse purchase I ever made. Firstly, you need a special tool to fit it. Now, this should have been a warning to me straight away - I hate proprietary shit. Not only have I just x amount on a shiny BB but now i've got to spend another £20 for the tool Secondly, the machining tolerances are quite precise, meaning if it's not fitted EXACTLY right, it bends and the bearings start to bind. So I had to send it to the U.S to get it fixed, apparently it's quite a common problem. Thirdly, mine came loose every 3 months or so, even with threadlock. I have now put a BB lockring on the left thread, hopefully it should hold.
It costs a lot more than a cheap Shimano, and yes it probably lasts longer + looks nicer but so what? No one is going to see it.
