  • vic: What does a proofreader do exactly? Do they check for grammatical errors, typos, spelling and stuff or is there more to it? Do they check sources of info, the facts, etc?

    Well, interesting question. I don't know if my role is similar to that of other [more conventional] proofreaders, but yeah, I basically check all of the above and make sure that the person has used the right answer, that it is consistent and sits well with Government policy (which is kind of a bit wrong since civil servants are meant to be politically impartial). Since I used to draft the material that I now check, I'm familiar with sources, facts and policies but I have to make sure it's all up to date as well. Generally I have to be all-knowing.

    But I do not apply any of my job skills to my posts in this forum though (where's the fun in that?). I am not Platini-proof and have no desire to be so. Ha!
