There's no such place as Seoul. It's like 'Nottingham', 'Birmingham' and 'Bristol'...

Hi-
My name is Kevin, I'm totally new to this site. I've been teaching English in Seoul for a little over two months now (got here in August). I'm originally from San Francisco. When I was in the States last year I rode, rode, rode my bike everyday! I want to continue to do so, and I'm currently hunting out spots to get single-speeds. I've seen some, they exist...
Anyway, if I can help you out in any way with adjustment, lemme know! Seoul can be a lot of fun. And if you find any sweet bike shops, definitely let me know ~ I miss the rides.

ps. you can rent shabby bikes all along the Han River, some places for free, and ride along. It's crowded on weekends but very fun, and my Korean friends love it! Good activity.

I was in Seoul earlier this year and it didn't seem like a very bike-friendly city, to be honest. Very jealous of you heading out there for a year, though, it was a fascinating place. Try a canned drink called Procari Sweat - it tastes like the inside of your own stomach, quite an experience.

I tried Pocari Sweat as well, it's like Red Bull mixed with nitrous oxide! Ace! It's the cool drink to buy out there apparently.

Pocari Sweat tastes like a sports drink.. Gatorade, Powerade, etc. that kind of sweet/salt taste.

I think you can get it here in Wasabi takeaway Sushi stores?

is that so, ill be keeping my eyes peeled

The drink I had in Korea tasted of pure, distilled badness. Nothing like a sports drink. There was also a canned drink with whole grapes in. That scared the hell out of me when the first one fell in my mouth.

i was fortunate to meet fixedgear people on my 2 month stay in seoul. the scene is young but growing quickly (hipster alert). lots of friendly guys, professional events (sponsored by new balance and stuff) , ... i know one of the three (i think) shop owners.

hehe yes. but some are playing with that image. as i said. really really nice people.
PS.: i don't think most of them commute by bike. it really is a bike unfriendly city. you see more and more bikes but it'S rather minivelos on the sidewalks than proper bikes on the street. they do organise great grouprides, competitions, races ... (at night) though.

Hello, I just move to Seoul less than 3 weeks ago and I am looking for people to ride with. I've seen about half a dozen fixed riders since I've been here, mostly in Hongdae. I would agree that this is a rather unfreindly bike city, especially coming from Minneapolis where the biking is great. But anyways, its totally ridable. If your in Seoul and want to ride or if you know of any bike events, please let me know. I've been riding solo and doing a lot of late riding down by the Han River. Lets toss a few cans of Cass in our bags and get lost.

Hey all. So I'm going o do what I did when I first got to London but this time hoping someone can help me out in Seuol.
So I'm moving to Seoul on Sunday to teach English and will (like I did in London) have no friends. And Im hoping to ride over there.
Does anyone know anyone over there or is anyone coming to visit anytime in the next year? Cause I will have a tiny studio apartment if anyone needs to crash on a floor, since I wony have room for couches..
Thanks! I miss everyone in London.
