You realise this is a forum and not your own personal stream of conciousness scratch pad don't you?

Unless I'm mistaken, most of the entry fees go towards the costs of administering and organising the race.
The people who enter will do so for a variety of personal reasons, even if they know they won't win. Beat last year's time, beat your mates, get a medal, have a fun day out, give yourself race experience etc.
I'm not sure that "the fast robbing the weak" is something that crosses many entrants' minds, really. -

I have only ever 'won' one race and that was a roller race and that was against a load of students who arent even cyclists (at least I don't think they are) but at least no-one paid to enter the race so no-one lost anything but some glycogen and some sweat. But when it comes to proper races when you have to pay to enter but you know youre blatantly not going to win, is the whole thing just an excuse for the fast to rob the weak, i.e. a bit of legitimised reverse-robin-hoodism? Some say it's the taking part and not the winning that counts, but that's not true, if you know you're not going to win then what's the point of entering, except for to pay for the winner's prize? I think you should get your money back if you lose and the winner should pay full price for their prize.
No offence but you sound like a loser.
Why the fuck would you not think you were going to win? With a defeatist attitude like you currently display you'll probably spend the rest of your days whinging about how you'll never win, instead of the other option of getting some balls and some self belief; then, just maybe, you might win something.
When I get into a tournament I don't think "oh shit I might lose this" I go in there confident in my ability and the knowledge that I'm going to knock the dude out
where's someone with the obligatory "HTFU" comment??

Can you not make your own fucking mind up about anything? All you seem to post is pointless questions about pointless crap.
No offence, but try thinking with your own brain for once. -

You have to judge each race on its merits or mistakes. No one ever just wins wins wins because if you dominate one grade you go up and so on. So, you will eventually find you're in a group with riders as fast (or smarter) than you. So, you are now losing (a lot) and races becomes more about tuning your efforts or your judgement ("should I go with this break?", "should I attack now or in another lap?", "which side is the wind coming from and where will the bunch be worse off?" etc) until it all pays off, possibly a long way in the future with that well-executed win.
Or you could just HTFU and play a real man's sport like table tennis. -

It's raceism not racism
