Paul Dirac. As big a figure in mathematics / quantum electro dynamics as Einstein but just not as well know in the public eye. Many of the things we take for granted would not be possible without this man.
Sir James Lighthill. Revolutionary work helped allow Concord to fly. Died swimming round Sark at the age of 74.
