I'm guessing both on reading the first post...
Let's give the man a brake(sic). Someone steps out, little time to react...all goes tits up.
It happens. It doesn't mean he was in the wrong or needs to re-do his cycle proficiency training.
Main thing is he's ok and he didn't take out the Ped.
