  • currently working on this little shitter...

only started on saturday when i picked it up from my Dad, stripped it down, added an old goldfinger lever from my BMX days, paired that up to the original brake. all it needs for now is a new set of wheels and tubes. but long time plans are to gradually replace everything. The bar tape has been on there around 20 years and is stuck fast! my dad doesnt do anything by halves! haha.

im goin to see Ken at Kiwi on saturday to see if he can sort me out with some new wheels,

let me know what you think. i have built MTB's and BMX's before but this is my first fixie build and im not to cued up on them.

    thanks,

    ben.

I had a falcon when I was a kid. They're nothing special but thats fine really if its your first fixed wheel. Most likely its pretty heavy.

My advice would be either to get a decent wheel set and use them on your next build when/if you decide to upgrade the frame. My other advice would be to reuse what you can before you go and spend too much money (by which point it may have been worth buying a new bike).

Personally I'd just get a rear wheel and then be sure you can buy the front when you need to. If you really like it then maybe it'd be worth getting a new bike and selling the rear wheel (it'll sell no problem, plenty of ppl doing conversions).
