  • that'll be Osram

  • Spotted, today some guy on a red Colnago ,fixed going up Maids Causeway this morning , didn't get a chance to check whether it was a conversion or not .It looked sweet as, though . Also spotted a red and black painted old something badged frame ,fixed on newmarket road . I couldn't get a good view or say hello as i was in my works transit, but are any of you on here?

  • Also, this morning I saw a guy on a red and white steel frame something or other at the traffic lights on radagund road (crossing colleridge road) rolling up right jean leg and with one of those messengerish cycling bags, either fixed or SS.

Ever since I finished mine i seem to be seeing fixed gears everywhere, sadly never when I'm riding.

  • I'm on a red Basso. Was on Maids Causeway a few times over the last few days. Still looks like this pretty much...

It's my project and I'm loving it. And I'm ignoring the fact it's to small for me. To late I already love it.

  • Afternoon fellow fixers,

I'm a new member to the site, hoping to catch up with some of you guys soon, I'm sure I've seen a few of you about - Asseenonfixie, I think I spyed you a couple of weeks back by Midsummer Common, I nearly came off my vespa which I was on at the time checking out your bike though...

There are some really sweet rides on here, I'll have to look out for you all now, didn't know there were so many about in the area...I'm mainly rolling about around Hills Road/Cherry Hinton/Mill Road area on a dark blue/purple Pavone with cut and turned drop handlebars, so keep an eye out...

    Hello and Cheers

    Honky

  • I think we need to start a 'post yer bikes' thread... not sure when I can be arsed to take a picture of mine though

  • Wotcha Honky , welcome ! The Cambridge Fixed thing is gaining momentum and is very diverse and not exclusive. If you're about on a thursday night drop by and say hello, after 9pm we're usually boozing in the Maypole being insular and petty.

I think we need to start a 'post yer bikes' thread..

I agree but can we call it "Pictures of Lily" ,my fave Who track from when i was a kid which i later discovered to my horror was all about wanking.

  • OK - Maybe I'll clean up my frankenfix and take some pics... maybe

  • I've got some pics

  • Just awesome.

  • Nice one gang, looking forward to some mid-winter supping and perusing over some deutsch track bike porn sometime soon...

    ATTENTION: WHAT NOT TO WEAR

Had a bit of an incident this morning coming over the Hills Road bridge. Today is the first day of the year that I've worn 'autumn slacks' to work, and they are quite wide (they are brown woollen pinstripe too if that helps set the mood).

To cut a long story short, due to their girth I forgot to tuck them into my sock, and as a result the hem got stuck in the chainwheel as I started to descend.

As you can imagine, with no freewheel, and picking up pace, they continued to churn away at the cloth, until my calf was pulled tight to the frame, at which point they gave and ripped a large dairylea-shaped piece from the inside leg.

I somehow managed to slow down and stay upright, even though I couldn't get out from the toeclips, I brushed myself off, checked my hair and continued to join the rat race.

It was hair raising to say the least! But it's all part of the fun, and what its all about yo. I dare say that Gok Wan, or my tailor on Saville Row would NOT BE BEST PLEASED.

How do your respective bikes add comedy value to your days?

    Stay off the drugs, kids

    Haitch - onky

  • Honky Honky Honky Tonk......Brown-Nice autumn colour, woollen- tactile natural and warm, pinstripe- sophisticated urban gentlemanly...... but Slacks! Oh deary me no. Not on a bicycle. Stepping out of a ford Capri matched with sheepskin car coat maybe, but not for cycling. Get Gok to re tailor them into plus twos, or fours (depending on the size of the rip). Then match them up with some Argyle socks and brogues .
Nigel below has achieved this look with dinner money he's stolen off kids

  • Where did you get that picture of me? Tis autumn after all.

  • OK - so today was just prep/fattening up... we'll ride again soon... really!

  • Oh didn't you guys ride? I should have come along. I'm recovering from Bronchitis so a long ride was off the menu. But a leisurely cruise into town and back for a beer would have been good.

Next week though. There with bells on*

    Faze Red

    • "Bells on" is a figure of speech, my bike does not have a bell. I just didn't want to raise expectation levels.
  • Well I hope your interview was worth it Harv cos' you missed one helluva ride!!!

As we pedalled out towards Addenbrookes we were joined by rank upon rank of betrack-framed MASH types with arrospok front wheels until we were stopping traffic in all three directions. We had to be given a police escort (or maybe it was a cortina - don't remember the details).

Everyone started trying to out-trick one another... some pulled no-handed double wheelies, others got their leg over [sic] while skidding, while one guy (dressed as a pirate for some reason) skidded the entire length of Trumpington High Street backwards while his parrot recited one of the Canterbury Tales (I forget which one... maybe the Wife of Bath??? but I digress) ... and best of all, nobody was wearing any bloody Rapha clothing (no, Harvey... not even a scarf)... it was awesome! Too bad you missed it.

  • Sounds like one of those once in a million, never to be repeated, unfortunately not photographed, unlikely but oh so true, tell the grand kids, give up living if you missed it kind of nights.

  • Yeah well i'm famous coz i've been on the radio . I plugged our nite and Rick's business too. I want my own radio show now, fuckin marvelous , sit about playing records talking shit all day . Phone in show would be even better , tell everyone their cunts and why, then hang up before they can reply.

  • People doing it this thursday? Need to decide if I get my postage bumped up to next day to get my clips here on time. Bloody order delayed as they didn't have one of the items.

Oh damn, I better get some lights ordered as well. Bring back summer. Hmmmph.

  • I'm coming out to play on Thursday. Weather predictions all point to being fine.

  • It's Aaron's last ride I think... that's worth a few miles and a drink or two at least!

  • Maybe I'm never going to get to join you guys. Circumstance certainly doesn't seem to want me to although I really think it took it too far this time. My mum suddenly developed a penicillin allergy and ended up in hospital with Anaphylactic shock. She's absolutely fine now but it was pretty scary.

So I'll try again next week.

  • Only three of us braved the Paris-Roubaix-esque conditions for a 1/2 hour ride... most stayed in the pub, so you didn't miss much

  • I missed the pub??!?! And only a short ride??!?!

Not fair. Don't rub it in.

  • me and a mate are braving the evening tonight for a ride and a few beers, anyone about? meet up in town somewhere for 7:30 then see what happens. looks like a fine evening too judging by the sunset.
