  • Hey this is just what I was looking for the other day. About to start building wheels. I'm using IE and when I put Mavic into the search field it does nothing? I guess just some teething trouble it found miche in the hub field no problem. I guess some way to manually put in dimensions for stuff not on the database would be handy but I think thats already been suggested?

  • Looks good man.

    • some on the ability to enter your own values when the hubs/rims aren't included. (none of mine came up)

also some notes or links to other sites that detail lacing techniques and tips. make it more widely used..

IE doesn't work atm. I'm working on it but debuggin IE proves to be very difficult since I develop on a Mac and have Windows only at uni. Use Firefox in the meantime (or forever).

I'll add the ability to enter your own hubs/rims soon, working on it. There are lots of spokecalcs that require you to enter your own measurements so that will be on the bottom of my todo list but I am looking to implement it at some stage.

    That's fair.

if anyone wants Black Double-Butted spokes i have plenty of 292 & 268 length Alpinas.

  • I have added new functionality!

    • You can now submit your own hub measurements. To keep spam out I will look over each submission before adding it to the site.
    • I've swapped a few colours around in order to improve readability on shitty screens. (c/o tynan)

    So, get submitting guys!

  • Excellent stuff ! Getting better all the time - this should be a sticky in the 'Mechanics & Fixin'' section.

  • Yey, someone submitted the first rim, an VelocityAeroheat 26"!

    no H Plus Son...
    sad face :(

I have the ERD for H Plus Son which I measured last week during a build - 557mm. I'll keep adding more hub specs to my site as and when I get them. Feel free to take it. But if you implement a way to enter data on your site then I could pop it in there too.

Is the proper name "H Plus Son"? If yes I'll stick it in the database?

  • I have improved the search. Now you can filter the rims by size with the syntax "size:650"; this will yield all 650s. You can combine that with other searches, ie. "zipp size:650" which gives you all of Zipp's 650s.

The following sizes are in the database right now.
    700C
    650C
    28"
    24"
    20"
    18"
    16"
    27"
    650A
    26x1 3/8
    650B
    26" MTB
    26"
    600A
    24x1 3/8
    24x1 1/8
    24" BMX
    550A
    20x1 1/8
    500A
    20" BMX
    17x1 1/4
    16x1 3/8
    400A
    16x1.75

  • I have rewritten some of the code and the shizzle now works in Internet Explorer.

By the way, why is dale gay?

  • great yestaerday I did it a go and nothing, is in IE.
I try to look for mavic cpx33 and nothing came in the search, Are they in the database?
by the way, why you ask about Dale?

  • The tags rik... always with the tags..

  • this tag is in half of the threads of this forum and after know the people of this forum you just have to suposse they are taking the piss

this forum is full of "inside jokes", that or you where there that day or don't make any sense

  • Hi rik,

I guess the rim you want is a Mavic CXP not a CPX. CXP33 is in the database. Let me know how you are getting on.

  • By the way, why is dale gay?

    have you met him???

  • I have now added functionality to enter your own hubs and rims therefore, if you are unhappy with the measurements in the database, you can enter your own.

By the way, Jobst Brandt ("The Bicycle Wheel") and Damon Rinard have emailed me and given their thumbs up.

  • The two lists under "Popular search terms" should be clickable - click on a term and it is entered into the text field and searched.

Good idea. It is on my todo list.
    EDIT: t'is done.

Excellent service ! :) Just gets better and better, very slick.

All works perfectly on Firefox and Safari - OS X.

  • That'll be £100, Mr Tynan. I'll accept blowjobs.

  • . . . . one small thing . . .

Once you have clicked on one of the ''popular search terms' - you can't go back to the list (for instance if you clicked on the wrong one). Maybe a little 'close' tab/button like this: (????)

I will go for the cash option, I have just put £100 in the post, I addressed it to:

  • great app! Is it possible to have a 48 spoke option?

  • ehren
Great work. What made you do it? Is there something about yours that others don't have? i'm only asking cos it looks like a lot of work!

I used Rinard's spokecalc.xls which is very comprehensive but daunting for beginners - there is little handholding and I was never sure I did everything right. It being a Excel spreadsheet also means it is stuck in the nineties. I'm a web app developer and wanted to create something really easy to use where you didn't need to measure your hub and rim yourself.

It's in the pipeline. I'm working on allowing users to input decimal values as spoke counts. (As suggested by the man him self, Damon Rinard!)

    . . . . one small thing . . .

I'm working on that one, too.
