The only interesting point for me is it's the only place in the UK I've ever been rejected from a club for my clothing. Not even a WAC t-shirt! I'd gone there with a friend of Mal's for a birthday.. guess I didn't meet their chavtastic tuxedo requirements.[/quote]
Hey Hippy! We have yet to meet. Soon I hope at drinks or polo. Wow really? Turned down in Uxbridge for inappropriate clothing? Fuck me! Maybe they turned you down because you had too many teeth? I think there is a maximum allowance of 6 teeth per gob to get in to a club here.

It was quite funny.. because I was sober for a change and since it was Mal's friend's birthday I had actually made an effort with my club look.. wearing my least skanky stuff. Bam "he's not coming in with trainers". "You what? I'm here to dance cunt. What sort of fucked up nightclub is this?"
I caught the bus home alone and had a great time getting drunk by myself and probably posting here waiting for Mal to get home. hahaha
I'm in Ealing so you've probably had me swear at you at some point on one of your rides into town already. Why aren't you at West Drinks?

I will be putting up flyers for drinks rides and rides to polo/wherever in the coming weeks. I'm busy the next few weekends but can make midweek drinks. Keep a look out around campus for more info.

This Brunel thing is in it's infancy, haven't been any group rides as of late. Ed (moog?) and I rode all the way to polo by Brick Lane and back on sunday. Helluva ride, all though Ed needs to HTFU and keep up (Girly boy!) We were talking about following the canal into london just out of curiosity? Any one up for that? Or if anyone has and Ideas for a ride or a Suxbridge Drinks night somewhere? Speak up!

I went to Wests last week, I'm gonna try and make it this week too. If you see a mad Cyclist whistling and telling cars to fuck off really loudly through Ealing that's me.

Hmm.. I tend to sing or hum and tell cars to fuck off really loudly through Ealing that's me.

Yeah it's me aram, come on I didn't think I did too bad for a first timer. I didn't pussy out at the tube station so I could have been worse. I'd be up for West drinks next week if you are going.

I'm the other side of the A40, in Harefield. Close enough to know Uxbridge=poophole.

I am based in Uxbridge, COwley to be precise. Had no idea someone else was around:)
Not a single shop nearby:(
Also going to Brunel. Old baby blue frame turned to fixed, now with mudguards on shouldn't be to hard to spot. -

You guys can do an Uxbridge drinks! Tuesday seems to be a popular night for (fake) drinks. ;)

I am definitely up for it, preferably starting next week though.

Ex-harefieldite here. Worked at Deluxe Labs up until recently. Still pop up there every now and again.
Nice countryside for cycling, shame about the locals. Had regular abuse from the moped-pikeys.

Aye, the locals have a certain inbred look to them. They are much improved, visually, by wearing their helmets.
As you said- nice for cycling though. Some good short runs out towards Uxbridge then back in via Ickenham/Ruisplip or the other way out Rickmansworth/Maple Cross/Denham. Lots of nice longer runs out Amersham and/or Beconsfield direction too.
Can be a bit hilly though if you're feeling lazy (as I
oftenalways am). -

Church hill, Coy Carp, Denham Aerodrome then back home to Moorhall Road/Marina was a nice short spin after work most days.
Coming back up Coy Carp to Harefield is an absolute killer.

I live half way up that hill and agree wholeheartedly :D
(going down it to the Coy with a pocket full of beer tokens on a sunny afternoon is much more agreeable)

Glad I started this thread. I knew there were others in this god forsaken place. Anyone know a good bike friendly drink location? Open to suggestions?
-

Hippy was it Royal's you went to. Ultimate shit club, Jordan used to be a regular apparently. Good place to go if you fancy a fight.
There are a few nicer pubs out towards Iver, also a pub on Packet Boat Lane that I remember was alright but not cheap. Can't vouch for bike friendliness though. Although I dislike where I live now it still beats Uxbridge.

A snippet of a review of Royals http://travel.ciao.co.uk/Discotheque_Royale__Review_5468617
Although I would disagree and say that from mine and my friends experience of the place this was the rule rather than the exception.
"However I once went on a New Years Eve and queued for over an hour to get in, then queued for an hour to put my coat in the cloak room had one drink after queueing along time at one of only two bars. The night was followed with me getting my foot broke (I wasn't drunk due to not getting served, a rather large man fell on it!) my then boyfriend getting his nose broke by a scally slamming an ice bucket over his head, another guy who was out with us got bottled and nearly lost his eye and the taxi we were supposed to get home ran someone over so couldn't pick us up! All in all this was not a good night, but this was the exception, not the rule!"

Holy shit! I never go out in Uxbridge. Your experience is exactly why I will happily ride nearly 40 miles sometimes here and back to have drinks with all your happy faces in Central London! :)

Anyone ever ride along the canals from Uxbridge into the city?
I knew you guys were out there. Ive seen your buddy Pedro riding on his Peugot. Ive been riding around with another Brunel lackie Ed who rides a Charge Plug. There's someone who rides a nice looking SS creamy white one. I stuck a note on their bike saying "Hey, let have a ride and a beer" (Hmmm? That sounds like im cruzing him doesn't it?) That explains the no response. There's a girl riding around on a black Unipack too. All in all I know theres at least 5 or 6 of us minimum at Brunel. Which I actually find quite shocking. I felt like a total weirdo when I first got here.
Mr. Ed was going to put up a flyer calling out to all FG SS out here to see if anyone was interested in going for beers, rides etc. I semi frequently ride into central london to go watch polo or meet up with the LFGSS gang for drinks at various establishments. Let me know if you guys are ever up for a good long ride into town and back. It's almost 40 miles to Brick Lane and back. Dont know if you will but I love doing it. Feel free to PM me. Let's get something going up here and make Uxbridge liveable!
Cheers guys (& gals)!
