When I had to have my Bob Jackson frame reurned and then sent back to me they suggested using my LBS as the collection/delivery point for the couriers instead of home or work. Worked a treat. Good luck with the farce.

That sucks dude, hope it all works out for you.
Were I work, we have used parcel farce for years, I HATE them! You can guarantee that they will, at some stage of the process, bugger SOMETHING up, they are absolutely 100% shite, if you want it done properly go UPS, in my experience.
Better yet, take it yourself. -

That's wank news. I've learnt something though when people use Parcelforce. I always ask for the tracking number from the sender and monitor it everyday online
When it says it's at the depot or words to that effect I always try and go down there and pick it up myself before they have chance to deliver.
Can be a pain sometimes but it saves situations like this, which have happened to me before
But they are indeed useless cunts -

that sux balls...sorry to hear...
my new bike's arriving, hopefully today...having read this, fking hope not by parcelforce...

all parcel companies are shit.
i had an expensive pair of speakers delivered from scotland but on opening the box i had 10 hand-held credit card payment machines instead of some nice PMC tb2's !??
the address label for my parcel had only half the backing paper taken off resulting in it attaching itself to another box somewhere in the delivery system.
took a few days to sort out but i got my stuff in the end. -

Oh god this thread has brought me out in a cold sweat. Poor you DixonB. I have nothing but sympathy.
Have you thought about contacting the police with regards to your neighbours? Surely, if someone has accepted your parcel, this is theft?

I'd rather listen to the credit card machines.

But they are indeed useless cuntsDamn right! I check the status of any package I'm expecting delivery of daily. Sometimes hourly if I'm extra excited. Unfortunately delivery guys don't get paid enough to give a shit to leave notes saying where the parcel is sometimes. Simple step but a pretty crucial one when it comes to delivery something. Chumps. It's happened to me a couple of times and I've only worked out something's gone wrong by being a sad bastard and checking online.
I'm sure you'll be fine and it'll work out in the end. Mercian would certainly have insured the frame for loss or damages when using a delivery service. They seem like the sort of people who care about what they do and the service they provide. It wouldn't be in their interest to risk sending something without it being insured. The people that buy their frames are tarts (I mean that in the nicest way possible) so Mercian know just how precious the frames are to the customer. As for the wait for the new frame - I feel for you. It'll be worth the wait though I'm sure.

all the big companies are shitty. UPS was supposed to ship me some stuff in one month back in June. I got it last week. I dropped the box off at the office in the USA before coming out here, gave them my dads address as the return address, as no one would be at mine, and gave them mine as a billing address. i go to the UK, wait my month, nothing. Call ups, they say that there has been a problem at customs, which was they filled out a form wrong, now it can't leave the usa, as customs marked the box it has to be re-boxed. I tell them to take it to my return adress, about 3 weeks latter they do this, they offer to re deliver to the uk, for free, and pretend like this is a good deal, and not exactly what i paid them to do.
My dad re-boxes it and sends it, they fuck it up again, customs marks it again. again i have to call them to figure it out, they never thought to tell me my box was sitting in a warehouse in NY, and they had no plans of returning it to the sender, or delivering it. this time I'm well pissed off, and get them to refund my money, which i used to get fed-ex to send the package, which arrived.

I think that if you are sent something by mistake ie theres two of something in the parcel instead of the one that you ordered/paid for or theres a lens in with your dslr that you never ordered/paid for then its the company-that-sent-you-it's responsibility to realise, inform you and have it collected. You have no obligation to own up to having received something that you weren't meant to.
Probably a similar situation here. Unless the delivery driver asked the person "are you joe bloggs and is this flat number 1a" and the person lied and said yes thaen i can't see that they would be guilty of anything.
Anyway, there'd never be enough evidence to convict someone of theft.
It does suck though that someone would do this.
Look out for it being moved. If one of you neighbours did get it then i doubt they would be stupid enough to build it and ride it themselves but they might sell it on ebay/get a junky mate to come round n take it away in exchange for sum crystal meth. -

The gated property I live in has about 15 flats so it could be anyone who took it. I'm thinking of putting up a notice to try and trigger someones morals though it would be pretty difficult for them to give it back now without looking like a thieving cunt.
I'm still waiting for parcel force to call me with the results of the driver interview, I'm not going to take any shit from them. Just trying to work out the value of the frame. It was am old frame but the replacement would have to be a new super vigorelli (£505 in 631 or up to £760 in team 853) plus respray in my chosen colours plus Campag bottom bracket, headset and delivery (£270). Anything else I could go for? I didn't get any chrome plating but if they end up paying.........
My girlfriends dad is a lawyer (though not a cunt) so I'm going to talk to him this morning to see my position. It will be nice to tell them that I'm taking legal advice if they start trying to squirm their way out of taking responsibility!
I thoughy about about informing the police but I'm not sure what action they can take, it is theft but unless the driver personally identifies the person I'm not sure what can be done. -

However the stupid thing is the arsehole will probably flog it down the pub for fuck all. Cunt

Gumtree, not ebay, is where it'll be sold. Or down the pub for £15 and a pack of B&H.
-
• #43
I suggest you don't bother with the police, the theft is not your concern - it is a civil matter with parcelfarce. take them down!
and don't forget the cost of travel expenses incurred while you are waiting for a replacement frame to be built. -
• #44
Travel expenses? That's genius. It takes 5-6 months for a new frame from Mercian.......and a travelcard is dreadfully expensive these days!

Parcel Farce operatives are renowned for forging signatures & their drivers losing deliveries.
Any CCTV of the front approach to your building ???
And YES Mercian are totally liable for the loss.

Panic over!
Just got the call from parcel force, they made the delivery correctly to address given to them by Mercian. However this was to my parents address which was where i was when i placed the order. I had changed this address to my new one via email and confirmed by phone when I moved into my new place 4 weeks ago.
My parents weren't in when the delivery was made so the neighbours took it.
I've spoken to Mercian and they are arranging a collection and redelivery. I'm pretty pissed off with them though, I have an email from them saying my delivery address had been changed and I double checked this when I paid over the phone.
So all this stress because a stupid error in their office. I should get it by the middle of next week which is a relief.
I'm also annoyed because I feel like an idiot for not thinking this could have happened!
Still, I stand by my assertion that parcel farce are cunts because the dick didn't leave a note saying a parcel was next door, so my parents didn't call me to let me know it was there. l -

Shame
you said that you live in a gated block of flats.... might be worth leaving a sign up in a communal area (postboxes?) just asking if anyone has it... they might be waiting for whoever it is to come and find it. or am i putting too much trust in human nature?
