Pfff! Ageing hipsters... Worse than the young 'uns! And The Stooges beat The Velvets in a fight, any day of the week... Pfff! (again, just for emphasis)
And who produced "The Stooges" album including "I Wanna Be Your Dog" ? John Cale. Velvets for the win.

yup, that and the pig-placenta extract I inject very morning.
For the more literal minded readers: I do not inject pig-placenta extract every morning. -

Aside from “sneaker culture” one of the most homo and expensive trends you can align yourself with while at uni is the trendy fixed-gear bike cult. You spend hours on forums, and eBay searching for the parts to make your dream bike. Then you lock it up outside a pub full of other bike pervs so they can dribble at it while everybody else in the world laughs and kicks it.
ohhhhh that cuts deep! :D

Well I feel like I'm going off topic by going back to topic....
I used to work for Vice and although I don't always have the best things to say about them the writing is often surprisingly good. Especially surprising as it is so irony filled but written mainly by Americans (The content is shared around the various Vice countries but the main writers are in the US). Some of their pieces although shocking are very thought provoking and often have core message, although it's not always obvious. It is a taste maker and barometer of trends, fashion and music.
Other times it just wants to shock.
But always it's done for the money. It's more capitalist than you would expect. Different from the other mags ID, Dazed etc in it's set-up but it is still about the cash.

Vice US turns out some good shit, Epically Latered for one, and their peice on the biggest rave in Russia in a disused nuclear powerstation is brilliant.

'Produced'?! Have you heard his original mixes on that LP?!?! The man should be shot... The Velvets did make some great records but I still hate them, Da Stooches have been my fave band since I was 16 when everyone was into the Velvets but no-one gave a toss about my lil' darlin' Detroit boys... It's a completely irrational stance on my part, but hey, whatcha gonna do?
I have to admit i thought i liked the Floyd when i was a yoot, just to fit in. The rest were the same - one mans hippy parents had a strong grip. But being exposed to it back then has helped me love it more.
when i watched Crystal Voyager a few years after that i was blown sideways. it still comes on my CD player now. music of that scale is a love affair that changes.
Those that feign their passion will grow up and forget that music was there because there is no strong link. Their kids will be told of a scene whilst their parents check wikipedia on their 5th genreation iphones to find out what the music of the day was.
